Looks like I will have secondary transportation after this weekend. That means I can take my 4runner apart and install my axle gussets, u bolt flip kit and hi-steer kit that has been rusting in my garage since September! I'm getting excited!!!
I will hopefully be posting up some pics starting next weekend if all goes as planned 🙂

Do you have a knuckle rebuild kit? Make sure you have plenty of rags and something like brake cleaner around. It's one of the messiest jobs on the truck. 😀

Yeah I have done it on my brothers truck before. Its a huge mess. I have to inventory my parts I may need to order the knuckle kit if I can't find it, haha! I plan to yank it all out clean it up before I start welding so it may be a number of weekends to get this done.

No kidding its a mess. I repacked the birfield and cleaned out all the old grease and there's a fill plug in each steering knuckle. How much extra grease are you suppose to add? Cant find an amount anywhere...

I've never added through the fill plug. I pack the birf full, make sure everything is covered in a thin layer of grease so it doesn't rust, throw a bit extra in there and run with it. A full knuckle will leak in no time. You really don't need much in there. I use the red synthetic grease. More expensive, but it doesn't seem to be as messy when I'm cleaning it out the next time. Also does better with water.

Yeah that red grease sounds good I may give that a try. I keep lagging on this project because I keep having problems with my main transportation. I think its all cleared up now though. I need to clear some workspace in the garage and then its on! Only problem is this weekend is my daughters 1 yr birthday so between family and everything not sure I can get started. I better get my A$$ is gear though or I'll miss the maintenance run!!! embarassed Looks like I'll be doing some late night wrenching..... Hopefully I'll have some pics to post up soon!!

So I think I'm finally getting geared up to do this! I noticed my clutch pedal was having some issues and found out the master was ripping through the firewall!
Now I have the welder out to help patch it up and am thinking while I'm at it might as well get started on this thing right?

I got the clutch pedal welded up. What a PITA I had to get a new pedal assembly and everythng. Then I noticed a rip in my inner fender and welded that up too! I'm getting the motivation I need to rip out the front end, but the weather is soooo nice and the top is off the Runner so I'm driving it this week! Maybe this weekend I'll get started onthe hi-steer and axle gussets 🙂
