Im in a LJ with the group 34 battery but I did the Sears DieHard Platinum (rebranded Odyssey) when they were available. I got the M group (marine) to get the extra threaded posts for accessories. Had a yellow top before that and a red top before that. All were good AGM batteries, but next go round I will probably just do dual costco generic marine deep cycles. For the cost, I like the idea of having a backup battery even if its older style lead acid for the same price as 1 name brand AGM.

On the TJ/LJ the dual battery set you have to lie them on there side. So unless your using sealed batters they will leak, even so a traditional wet battery wont hold up very long placed on its side. The lead panels tend to brake off and short out.

That they do. Would be a custom setup for sure. LJs have a little more room under the hood as the evap canister is in the rear quarter and not under the hood. Going to wait until i have tube fenders incase i go with ones that run custom inners but current measurements look good for a custom setup. Also room in the floor behind the drivers seat as a backup location in the LJ.

I haven't heard anything about a blue top optima battery. This samurai I have been working came with a blue top battery and I'm going to run that in my jeep tj. It's an rv or marine battery so it's good for power and sure starts after sitting awhile. Any opinions on that one?
I had a blue top. It didn't last very long for me. The value was for a refrigerator in my case, where it was an extra battery.

Why do you like this "Poles are reversed"?
2012 and up JK uses a different battery, Group 91 maybe? It is basically the same as the Group 34 of TJs and 07-11 JKs but with the poles reversed. My guess is that this was the work of the same engineer that suggested the use of Torx hardware.
