I would like to buy some half doors for my 04 TJ. I think I want stock half doors but I'm open to other options/suggestions provided they are good for water crossings and can accept upper skins. It is my understanding that in order to match my dark slate gray interior I will need to find 03 to 06 doors. Ideally they should be red but if not, I can get them painted. I have recently been checking on eBay and Craigslist but I haven't found anything in good shape with the slate gray door panels. Today I sent an email to J&W Jeep (http://jwjeep.com/) to see what they have. Are there any other sources that I should check or do I just need to be patient and keep checking eBay and Craigslist? Thanks!

You could also try the "For Sale" sections on some of the Jeep forums like Pirate or Jeeps Unlimited.
Thanks, will do! I found some really clean doors on CL but they are in Wisconsin and I would need to have them shipped if the seller is willing to do so. And I would need to get them painted Red since they are orange and I don't think orange doors would look too good on my red TJ.

Here is a link to the doors that I'm looking at: http://madison.craigslist.org/.....65471.html They see very clean. Am I crazy due to increased cost to get doors that I would have to paint? Should I keep looking for red doors that are in good shape like these? What are the odds of finding really clean half doors off an 03-06 TJ? These are off an 05 and were removed and replaced with full doors. They have no rust and the seller is trustworthy and ships aircraft, so shipping Jeep doors on a palletized wooden box is no problem for him. Since the doors include the skins it doesn't seem like an unreasonable price to me for such clean doors. Opinions/advice???

JW wanted 450 per door the last time I checked for them for my 04 TJ.
Thanks for the information Darrell and Jill. I have seen them for 300 to 600 per pair on Craigslist and most were not in good condition but I haven't been looking very long. I just added tube doors last week and I realized on Friday to and from Barrett that in spring and fall it will be way too cold to run tube doors. So I guess the ones I'm looking at might not a bad deal.

Like my new look! Did I park too close to Brad? They will get painted red soon.

They look good. Much better for the trail.
I bought some tube doors and put them on just before we ran Barrett. We had an unusually cold morning and it was foggy on parts of hwy 49 between hwy 80 and 50. We froze driving over there so I realized that I needed some half doors in addition to my tube and full doors so I could use the appropriate doors depending on the weather. I figure if tube doors could be too cold on a cold day in the middle of summer, just think how cold they would be in spring and fall. I really liked the increased visibility I had with the tube doors and the visibility with half doors is almost as good and far better than the full doors.

Nice!! Now can you find me some JK half doors?
Funny you should say that, I remembered seeing these in my search. Don't know anything about them or if they are a fair price, but here they are: http://losangeles.craigslist.o.....48256.html

To rich for my blood. Thanks though.
I don't know what JK half doors sell for but I'm guessing these are overpriced since they haven't sold. You could always throw a low number at him and see what he says. Isn't that what Craigslist is all about?
I got lucky on mine. The guy who was selling them dismantles and exports used small planes in shipping containers so packing up some half doors was nothing for him. He built a palletized wood box for no additional charge, wrapped them in industrial bubble wrap and put straps around them. It included the factory mirrors (worth $150) and an essentially new Mopar uppers bag (worth $130) for the windows and frames, all for $600. Cost me $300 to ship. Painting will be about $600 but I don't mind since the doors are in like new condition. Then I can go out and scratch them up on the trail!

Well, after seven days in the body shop (I was told it would take four to five days) and five days to get the locksmith to rekey the lock cylinders (he told me it would take one day), I finally got my Jeep back with my "new to me" half doors painted to match. Now I just need to go through some brush so they match the rest of my Jeep!
