Starting 2019 for ammo reg - you must spend 50 dollars and go through a background of done sort to acuire an ammo purchase card. Then you can buy ammo with a 1 dollar extra charge to doj everyone you buy.  You must also go to a licensed ammo vendor to do a private party transfer if one person wants to sale another person ammo with an 11 dollar charge. Online orders must go through a licensed vendor with an 11 dollar charge. Ammo can not be bought out of state and self imported

Sounds like the state and the doj figured out yet another way to make money.  And that's the only reason this was pasted.

It's only the law abiding citizens that the rules hurt. Criminals will not, nor have ever gone by the rules.  What morons we have in office.

What happened to the land of the free?

Do people forget how this country was founded?

This does nothing to stop criminals the law will only hurt law abiding citizens.

All good points - since moving here from MS, the "blue state" thing hasn't bothered me much. But I am pretty annoyed with this.

I don't like discussing this online, which is silly since the NSA listens in and retains virtually everything we all ever do anyway, and without a warrant, but:

-Only "assault weapons" must be registered. An AR-type rifle with a fixed stock (no pistol grip) and a bullet button is not an "assault weapon." EDIT: I believe that if you have a fixed stock and no pistol grip, you do not even need a bullet button. No registration required.

-Ruger Mini-14s are not "assault weapons." No registration required.

-google/youtube "bullet button reloaded" to see the "new" bullet button that, when installed, makes an AR-style rifle into a "NOT assault weapon." It briefly separates the lower/upper receiver, magazine pops loose, insert new mag, blast away. No registration required.

-As of 1-1-2017, buying ammo out of state and bringing it in will be a misdemeanor. Stock up now.

 OPEN QUESTIONS:

1) If you register your "assault weapon," can you then remove the bullet button and use a regular magazine release? Arguably yes. . .

2) A magazine rebuild/parts kit is not a magazine, and thus is not prohibited to own. Right ? ? ?

If you're not already a member of the NRA, Gun Owners of California, and the CalGuns Foundation, please join/support them financially, as they will finance the appeals that will challenge these new laws.

As far as "assault weapon" (whatever that means as assault is an action not an item) you are correct in mini 14/30 as well as m1a, m1 garand, m1 carbine etc not being classified as such.

An ar style or ak style or any of the "evil" rifles may be configured in what is referred to as "featureless". They are called this as you are removing the features California considers makes a gun more dangerous or scary such as pistol grips, flash hider, forward grips, collapsible or folding stocks ect. According to CA adding any one of these features to a gun with a detachable magazine makes you an evil "assault weapon" criminal set to destroy the entire world.

For example - take a mini 14 and put a forward grip on it, this in the eyes of California makes you a assault weapon welding terrorist. If you had a mini 14 and put a flash suppressor on it you're a terrorist. However take this flash suppressor off of the gun (which dose not effect the profamanc, handling,  accuracy, ability to use or shoot the firearm or really anything and you are no longer a terrorist and that firearm can no longer hurt anyone even though it's the same firearm.

Now back to the featureless build take an AR 15 with a bullet button as to be legal as of right now as to make the magazine difficult to change rapidly without a tool.

You either pin the collapsible stock in a fixed position (wherever you want it to be) or replace it with a fixed stock.

You add a grip wrap (a piece of plastic that just does not allow the Web of your hand to wrap around the grip and your thumb and fingers to touch)  or delete the pistol grip

Then if equipped remove the flash hider

And magic you can take the bullet button off have a standard mag release and have the same gun with the same or greater (due to the standard mag release allowing for quick reloads) effectiveness and your A O K with the state you do not have a scary or evil rifle and are not a terrorist even though you have the same gun.

This also applies to AKs and the rest of rifles - fixed stock, grip wrap, no muzzle device (flash hider) and bam you can have an AK 47 no bullet button, not scary, not a terrorist even though it's the same gun.

As far as RAW (registered assault weapon) currently the way things are set up with these laws it would become a type 3 RAW meaning yes no bullet button and you can have all the "scary" features pistol grip collapsible stock flash hider ect

Sorry for the long post hoe it helps some

yes the uniformed politicians are in panic mode over the recent terrorist attack.  They confuse these attacks with everyday crime.  But lets look at some of the countries with gun controls Mexico as a citizen you my not own a gun without a special license/permit or you will go to prison but yet they have the most gun violence and deaths in the world. Germany, Brittan and France you can not own a firearm without a special license/permit and background checks. But still there is gun crimes.  So the idea that these latest round of so called gun control laws control crime is a lie. Also if I have to have a background check to buy ammo, then every citizen should also because they may buy ammo in the future. Like the mom of the nut in Newtown did she wasn't a shooter but she owned guns. Because she couldn't tell her spoiled kid no. But the politicians keep ignoring the real problem witch is Mental Health and why because that cost monies. creating gun control laws cost nothing except our freedoms and rights.  A year or so ago the president and law makers stop the NSA from monitoring phones and internet. because they said it violated citizens rights.  What about now??  Ill get off my soap box now.

Let's talk Greg and set something up that way if some club members have interest but are not experienced or gun owners we can get them informed and leave them some time to buy items with less hassle if they decide they want to do so. Obviously the experienced and gun owners in the club would for sure be invited so we can have a fun safe time - but if there is enough interest I would really like to make this about interested non gun owners to give them the chance to experience and the option to obtain if they so wanted to before everything gets too crazy.

I'm also not opposed to planning an experienced gun owner run and gun type shoot trip maybe to free America if there is interest.
