The District Ranger has signed the final record of decision on the proposed actions needed to reopen Carson Emigrant Trail, Hungalelti Ridge Trail (Squaw Ridge/Pardoe), and the Long Valley Trail. The details of the proposed fixes can be found in the link below. It looks like there will need to be some equipment brought in to construct rolling dips, water for compaction, and rock for trail hardening. The rock transport appears to be similar to the action needed on Deer Valley however the drop site is 4 miles in vs 3/4 of a mile for Deer Valley. The small amount of rock and water needed for compaction at the rolling dips is 7+ miles in depending on what route is taken for access.
I will keep everyone in the loop as to when any work days are scheduled. This will be a good dry run for us to participate in as the logistics are even more complex than for our trail.

Thanks for the update Kris.Question. Seems like Forest Service work takes years to get done. Do you think this will happen in 2017?
Yes. Now that deer valley is done the leadership in the Amador unit is seeing these as the last of the 42 routes for them to deal with. That said the scope of this project is larger than deer valley so the repairs may take more than this summer to complete. So repairs will start this summer but may be multiple events and take into 2018 to complete
