SUMMARY:Hell Hole Trail Run - 2026
DESCRIPTION:When: Saturday \, May 30\, 2026 \nStart: Meet at Georgetown 7:30 a.m. \nMeet: Worton’s Market (6274 Main St\, Georgetown\, CA 95634) \nDepart for trail at 8:00 a.m. \nCome early if you need to fill up on gas or stock up on food. Worton’s Market opens at 6 a.m. and makes excellent breakfast sandwiches. Try one and support Georgetown. \nGoal be on the trail at 10:00 a.m. Be off the trail by 3:00 p.m. \nWhere = Hell Hole Reservoir \nThis run is not recommended for stock rigs. Basic club vehicle requirements apply. In addition suspension lift is recommended. Minimum 33 inch tires and a winch are required. Please remember to bring your radios for communication. \nWill limit the group to 10 rigs. \nThis trail has a couple challenging sections. A winch can come in handy. Not having a winch can cause others to have to pull vehicles out or over obstacles which can double the time it takes to run this trail. Please be respectful of others and sit this run out if you don’t have a winch. \nWe will have to help each other out as we go over obstacles. Participants should be willing to help others and to help spot vehicles over large obstacles. A positive and friendly attitude is required.

SUMMARY:Bear Valley Loop (Sierra Trek Pre-Run) & Overnight Camping - 2026
DESCRIPTION:NOTE: We don’t have a leader for this run but maybe we can talk Jeff into running it? \nBear Valley Loop Trail is our Sierra Trek pre-run: This is a club run open to anybody with a stock\, high clearance 4X4. This will be a pre-run for the Sierra Trek Outer Limits run that our club is leading two weeks later in August. The purpose of the run is to evaluate trail conditions and do planning and any necessary trail maintenance in preparation for the Outer Limits Run. Typically we have done some minor pruning and we mark the trail with flagging for the Outer Limits Run. Please bring the usual trail maintenance tools such as saws\, lopper\, shovels\, etc. Trimming brush typically the main need. \nThe Bear Valley Loop Trail is rated as an easy trail. It is a combination of dirt roads\, dirt trails and rock trails. All of the winch hills have easy bypasses for those who want to avoid the winch hills. The staging area for the trail is located about 20 minutes north of Truckee on Hwy 89. The trail tends to be dusty and does have some brushy areas that may need to be trimmed back. Mild cowboy pinstriping can occur. \nRun details: \nGroup 1: Arrive anytime on Friday\, July 24\, 2026 at Bear Valley Campground (Windmill Rd\, Loyalton\, CA 96118).  I believe reservations for camping can be made online. \nGroup 2: Meet at Bear valley Campground at 9:00am. We will have a drivers meeting and leave camp by 9:30am. We should be off the trail mid to late afternoon depending on how much maintenance is needed. Ideally there will be some time to play on the winch hills. This is an opportunity for anyone who needs to do their member BBQ in order to become a full member.

SUMMARY:Sierra Trek 2026 - Hosted by Cal 4Wheel - Camping/ Overnight
DESCRIPTION:WHEN: Thursday\, August 6\, 2026 – Sunday\, August 9\, 2026 \nWHERE: Meadow Lake Near Truckee\, CA. \nDIRECTIONS: DO NOT FOLLOW YOUR GPS \n\nExit I-80 in Truckee on Hwy 89 North (Toward Sierraville).\nProceed North on Hwy 89 for 14.6 miles.\nTurn left on USFS Road 7 (toward Webber Lake and Jackson Meadows Reservoir). Note OHV staging area on right after turning off 89\, this is the staging area for the Thursday SUV runs.\nProceed west on USFS Road 7 for 9.5 miles.\nTurn left on USFS Road 86 (toward Meadow Lake). Pavement ends\, it’s 10.9 miles to camp.\n\n0.6 miles\, road forks\, KEEP RIGHT.\n6.0 miles further\, stay on the main road to the right of the White Rock Lake turnoff (do not take turnoff)\n2.0 miles further\, KEEP RIGHT.\n0.6 miles further\, KEEP LEFT & note OHV campground on right 0.1 mile further; this is usually empty and is a good camp area if you want to stay away from the crowd.\n1.6 miles further to Sierra Trek Base Camp.\n\n\n\nSierra Trek is a Cal 4Wheel event located in California’s beautiful Tahoe National Forest. This is a family-oriented event geared towards everything from stock 4x4s on guided historic and slightly challenging tours to fully built rock crawlers on Fordyce Creek Trail and everything in between. Stock vehicles should consider signing up for the Wednesday/Thursday Overnight\, the Saturday Historic Run\, the Outer Limits Run or the Signal Peak run. Moderately modified vehicles will love the beauty and the challenge of the intermediate run or the Signal Peak Run. \nFordyce Trail is an extremely technical and challenging trail\, therefore is offered to the more modified vehicles requiring at least 35” tires and a minimum of one locker. Larger tires\, two lockers and crawler gearing are all recommended to improve the overall participant experience on the Fordyce Trail runs. The surrounding area trails allow Sierra Trek to offer runs for less modified 4×4 vehicles. \nAs always\, we love to embrace a family atmosphere and welcome the next generation of four-wheelers into the sport. We welcome everyone to main camp for a Cornhole Tournament\, and a world class vendor show. Please feel free to explore the area and locate any one of the numerous geocaches. Come to camp at night for the campfire with a live band. Enjoy your favorite adult beverage from the bar while you make new friends and catch up with old ones. As always enjoy great food\, a scenic environment and make lifelong memories. We look forward to seeing you at Sierra Trek.

SUMMARY:Strawberry Fall Maintenance Run 1 of 2 - 2026
DESCRIPTION:Sunday September 6\, 2026 will be our first trail maintenance run on Strawberry Pass Trail. This is the trail the club sponsors. To maintain member status you must make at least 1 trail maintenance run a year and there will be 2 runs including the other run being led by me in October. Our key goals for this run are bucking trees down in the area\, erosion control\, and getting documentation of fire remediation actions needed.. We will use the club’s HAM PosseV2 frequency for communications\, so bring your HAM radios. \nAlso\, as a reminder\, maintenance runs are a great opportunity for anyone needing to host a bbq/pot-luck for membership to do so. If you plan to do so\, please post so folks know and can contribute. \nMeet at the Subway/Shell station in Pollock Pines off of Hwy 50 and Sly Park exit at 8:30am. We will meet and after a quick drivers meeting will head up to the trailhead about 9:00am. \nPollock Pines Subway/Shell Station\n6529 Pony Express Trail\nPollock Pines\nCA 95726 \nThings to bring: \n-Trash bags \n-Gloves \n-Loppers/hand saw \n-Chainsaw (please only USFS certified operators\, no exceptions) and safety gear (chaps\, eye protection\, ear protection) \n-Crowbars/breaker bars \n-Shovel \n-Water \n-Lunch

SUMMARY:Barrett Lake Overnight - 2026
DESCRIPTION:THIS RUN IS LIMITED TO 10 RIGS ONLY! \nWHEN: September 26 & 27 (Saturday and Sunday Overnight) \nMEET: Meet at the Subway/Shell station in Pollock Pines off of Hwy 50 and Sly Park exit. \nTIME: 7:30am. Will head up to the trailhead about 8:00am.  Expect to hit the trailhead around 9:00am to air-down and go through Gate Keeper. \nWHERE: Barrett Lake Jeep Trail Head \nDIRECTIONS TO TRAILHEAD: \n\nFrom Highway 50: Take the Wrights Lake Road exit.\nFollow Wrights Lake Rd: Drive about 8 miles to Wrights Lake.\nTo the Start: Follow signs to Dark Lake (left at Wrights Lake)\, where the trail begins near the Rockbound Trailhead parking. \n\nKey Locations:\n\nTrailhead Gate: Near Dark Lake.\nCoordinates: N 38° 51.144′\, W 120° 14.449′ (Trailhead); N 38° 54.302′\, W 120° 13.887′ (Barrett Lake). \n\nBarrett Lake Trail is a High Sierra Four Wheel Drive/Off Highway Vehicle rock crawling trail located in the Eldorado National Forest. The trail typically opens the last weekend of July and is only open for about two months\, usually closing around mid October (these dates are typical from past experience). The determining factor on opening and closing the trail is how much mud and snow is on the trail. The Forest Service has ultimate control on opening and closing the trail. \nThe trail is suggested only for the experienced four-wheeler with non-stock\, lifted and modified rigs. The trail is limited to narrow short wheel based vehicles. Rating the trail on a 1 to 10 system this trail is a 9 to 10. The Barrett Lake Trail is a single path trail there is no bypassing the hard spots. The Gateposts at the Trailhead are 85 ¾ inches apart at the top flange and 86 ¼ below the flange and are used as a gauge; if your vehicle cannot fit between the gateposts it will not make it through the squeeze points on the trail\, and again there are no bypasses. \nThe Barrett Lake Trailhead is located at Dark Lake just north of Wrights Lake. The trail is a dead-end trail that is about 5 1/2 miles long from gate to Barrett Lake Campground. The average speed on this trail is 1½ to 2 miles per hour so you should plan on about four hours on the trail each way. The trail snakes through wooded areas\, side hills\, rock slabs and has a few creek crossings. The trail is an environmentally sensitive trail running on the border of Desolation Wilderness deviating from the established trail\, driving onto Desolation Wilderness land or walking onto Desolation Wilderness without a permit has and will result in heavy forest service fines. \nThe trail ends at the Barrett Lake Campground. The campground is a primitive campground with no conveniences.  You will need plenty of fresh water unless you plan to purify the lake water.  While at the campground please do not park or camp on the lake shore and please observe all posted boundary signs\, please pack out all your trash when you leave.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, October 24\, 2026 will be our second trail maintenance run of the year on Strawberry Pass Trail.
