She did ask if I would want to keep it and I said if they give me enough for it I'll keep it...thumbs-up

Hey man I know we can get attached to our rigs but I would strongly recommend against keeping it.  Take the payout and get something new.  Fire damage is no joke and you are looking at a level of effort similar to that of a frame off resto.

I called and lit a fire under my claims adjusters butt yesterday.

Perhaps a poor choice of words in this situation. Lol

Lol no pun intended just something I say but that's kinda funny...

I got to find some humor in my sad story about my Jeep

Well if they give me enough for it and the buy back is cheap why not the motor is good, tranny is good. I wouldn't buy it back if it was more then a couple hundred bucks though

Fire can do weird stuff to metal it weakens it, loosens rivets and causes cracking. Your Jeep could be week and unsafe. Taking it on trails and over rocks and obstacles adds even more stress to a fire damaged vehicle. Just my two cents.

Ah, you mean for parts. I was worried you were going to try restoring it.  I would check the crank position sensor on the bell housing and the plastic on top of the transmission to see if there was any heat damage. If not then there is some value in the engine and trans but depends on what you value your time as and how much you like sifting through craigslist people.

Please keep us in the loop on how long it take for them to actually pay out. This is mainly so we have a record of the time it takes incase people have to go through this process in the future.  This is also so we know when to start spamming you with craigslist adds for your next rig.

Pay out is already in the mail and headed to my agents office where I will pick it up and turn in the title and keys... Like they those.

And I'm not buying a rig I'll focus on building my Suzuki and I'm going to get a truck I'm looking either powerstroke or a Chevy with a 6bt in it

darn, I was going to start spamming you with Toyota rigs on CL 😛

In all seriousness.... that sucks man. This story makes me sad... I hope there is a happy ending in a sweet 6bt for you!! You deserve it. Keep your head up. I am down to buy masks for the club if you need to get out of the house on a Thursday evening 😉

I would never ask that of anyone waring these masks sucks! And I'm to affrad to be in a room with a bunch of people.

But that's why as soon as it cools down a little bit I'm going to put together a horseshoe tournament at a park and I'll habe some killer smoked brisket and other meats for all to enjoy. That way we can all have some good food and I can see y'all again cause I sure do miss y'all and the fun we have at meetings and on the trails.

Looking at 96/97 crew cab short bed powerstroke or a Chevy with a Cummins turbo diesel engine in it.

I have 2 powerstrokes to go look at and the only Chevy with a Cummins I can find is in Oregon so I might just go with a powerstroke

Ok so pulled the trigger on a 96 F250 powerstroke crew cab short bed, straight axle Dana 60 up front with shackle reversal, smoked lights needs a little work so I talked him down a couple grand but it's a good truck and good driver and drove it home from Redding with no problems.

You might be able to put one in the bed and strap the other to the top of the cab 😛

My trailer is big enough for 2 TJ's so 2 Suzuki's will be no problem
