First off, congratulations to our new club officers and a big thank you to the outgoing ones! I really liked all the energy at our first club meeting of 2020. There was a lot of discussion at the meeting about potential runs in 2020. To that end, I thought I would start a thread to discuss potential runs for this year. Last year a few of us had talked about trying to get some runs planned and on the calendar early in the year so that more people could plan and potentially participate. To recap some of the potential runs that were discussed at the meeting they were:
1. Brad mentioned a multiple day Rubicon run with camping at Buck Island. I would definitely be interested because I have on spent more than one night on the trail on two two occasions.
2. Tim and I both mentioned doing a combined Slick Rock, Deer Valley and Strawberry (SDS) run in the summer or fall. I was thinking that we did it last year in October but it was actually in early September. It was a great run and there was a lot of interest in doing it again this year. Tim, if you can set a date then I will decide if I want to schedule another run SDS run or perhaps do something else in early September if the two runs would be too close together.
3. Scott, there is much interest in another Nevada overland run!
4. Josh said he will schedule a Hell Hole run. We had great participation last year and it was a blast.
5. Brad mentioned a spring club camp out. I still think Greenhorn Campground at Rollins Lake between Colfax and Grass Valley would be a good location for it. I believe there are group sites and it has a store and bathrooms. And if you need more beer or food, Colfax is only about 15 minutes away.
6. Not discussed because he was absent, but Brent has done a fall Slick Rock run, with an option to camp near the trail head the night before. If Brent does it this year then I will definitely do something else in September it Tim schedules a SDS run.
I know there were some other potential runs discussed but I can't think of them right now. Let's make 2020 an active year for our club and get some runs scheduled early!

Thanks Jeff. Great follow up. I would love to participate in each of these. I'm really interested in overnights. Multiple days preferred. But single day in and outs are a blast too. My year is usually extremely busy in business but if dates hit the board early it would be very beneficial to me and others I'm sure. Looking forward to more fun in 2020. Cheers.

I also should have added working Sierra Trek winch hill 5 to the list of potential runs and events. Sierra trek is August 6-9th. I will touch bases with Tyler about it. He will be dedicating himself to communications so it would be up to our other club members to run winch hill 5 if we want to do it. You also get to go on one of the runs as a volunteer (volunteers pay a reduced fee to cover food, etc.).

Thanks Jeff. I definitely want to the slick rock campout run and another high lakes trip too. Unfortunately with my job I can be deployed with only 24 hrs notice and can be out of town for weeks to mouths. So me being able to keep plans is not set in stone. Hopefully I'll be getting home this coming weekend.

The enthusiasm for runs at the meeting was something I haven't heard in quite some time. This would include runs, snow runs, camp outs & activities. Our flooded home is finished, ribs are repaired, Jeep is in 1 piece, what more can you ask for. It looks like & hopefully, this will be a promising start & fin filled year!
As we mentioned at the meeting, we will get with Nevada Scott & see if we together can come up with a run/camp out that will be a fun as the previous events have been.

Thanks for posting Jeff. I'm hoping the dates for these work out for me and I can participate in most (or at least some) of these.

Let's try to remember to solidify a couple of runs in particular. The first being Tim's suggestion to do a Death Valley run sometime in late March or early April. The 2nd being Scott's bid for another Nevada run. That's always fun & interesting. If Scott is reading this, please contact Lynda & I for some coordination.
I'll bring this up at the meeting tonight to hopefully create some interest & pin down a time frame that coincides with a majority of those that could attend one or both events.

We might want to do a six month Nevada run to isolate us from COVID-19!

Are you doing meetings? Only been up here a few years, belonged to the Roughwheelrs in so cal since 1979
Welcome.
We are currently discussing how to do our meetings with current guidelines.
We have been doing them via Zoom virtual meetings, but are looking to move them outdoors with social distancing.
I used to wheel a lot. . .
