**CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER**

I am looking to run Deer Valley on 10/30, which is a Saturday.

I plan on meeting at McDonalds in Angels Camp at 6:45am. Leaving at 7am to head up to Hermit Valley Campground.                                                                                                                                                                      33 N main ST Angels Camp, CA 95222 United States

Top off fuel in Arnold.

The goal is to hit the trail at approx. 9:30am.

Requirements:

At least 33" tires with 1 locker. (trail would be difficult with this minimum but not impossible)
Standard club vehicle requirements @ https://posse4x4.org/technical.....uirements/
Either CB or handheld is fine, but handheld is preferred.

Optional:

There are other ways into the trail so you do not have meet me in Angels Camp, if it is easier for you to meet directly at Hermit Valley Campground that is ok!
Camping is allowed at the campsite (currently) if you wish to camp Friday night.

Hope to see some of you there 🙂beer

Nice!!!!

ebbitts pass is currently closed, so currently would need to get to the trail head going east bound on highway 4.  Weather conditions may change and the pass might re open. Ill double check if its opened as we get closer to the trail day.

Ebbetts Pass was closed due to snow last week but reopened on Saturday. We drove down Hwy 395 to Bishop on Saturday and all the passes had reopened. Obviously conditions can change by the 30th. I'm interested in this run so I'm a maybe at this point.

I actually just got word from Tyler that he was unable to make it to Deer Valley yesterday …

I may change this to a slick rock run… but I have never been there so I would not be able to lead.

Why wasn't Tyler able to make it to Deer Valley?

Just heard on the noon news that it is closed again due to more snow today but will reopen once the snow is cleared. As you said, it will be a game time decision on the 30th. Might be a snow run.

If they close the pass can you still get to the Deer Valley trailhead or is the gate below that? I guess it really doesn't matter because the entire trip depends on weather conditions between now and the 30th and we all know how fast the weather can change.

May be interested, assuming the weather holds. Up at that elevation, you can expect anything to happen this time of year. I'll confirm either way when it gets a little closer to that time.

Sounds good!

I checked on caltrans website that highway 4 is currently open as of 6pm last night.

I hope it holds up…

Is Tyler available that day? Believe he’s run slick rock a couple times and maybe he would lead it 10/30 if deer valley isn’t an option?

Ahhh. Cool tradition.
Well, I think he uses Gaia on all his trips…. If Deer Valley isn’t an option but Slick Rock is, do you think he’d share his track for it? With a good track and a few people, I think it might be manageable. Unless you have another idea for a different run?

I am going to cancel this run. I am nervous about the weather coming up. I do not really like the idea of waiting last minute game time run...

I am planning on doing a day run on the Rubicon next week on Monday starting at Wentworth Springs

I will post up details for that in a day or two.

Wise move Sean. As of yesterday, Hwy 4 closed...probably for the winter, so it made cancelling this run even more a reason. I will have to work on Monday, so I'm out for your Rubicon run. The weather there may also be of a concern, so please be careful if you decide to go.
