We don't talk about that around here. π

Ah,
It must involve a pair of cots and a warm fuzzy hat built for two. π
just an FYI on trail conditions. KOH kinda tore up some of the trails. Claw was a lot harder than it was a month ago π
the race was a blast, by the way π
"hytenor" wrote: KOH kinda tore up some of the trails. π
That's what we were hoping for. We will be running some of the harder trails; Outer Limits, Wrecking Ball, and Highway 20. Bring it on!!!

by the time you get down there all the rocks will be stacked for you π
you might try Back Door Resolution...wild trail! I spend most of race day there...back door was boring so I hiked up and around to the Resolution trail.
I don't have the wheelbase for that trail π Jeeps are short ya know π
Two weeks left...not too late to sign up for this run π
Vehicle requirements:
33" + tires (35"+ would be better)
Lockers front and rear
Low gears (4:1 a bonus)
Good working winch
Good attitude about dents or breakage π
We plan on running some pretty gnarly trails (Wrecking Ball, Highway 20, etc.)

I'm out. My excuse is:
There may be more than one correct answer.
is anyone camping out or is everyone staying at the hotel?
We are living it up and staying in a hotel. The only people going at this point are Rob and myself.

fixed it for ya π³
Looks like there's only going to be one Posse member at the Hammers this year π’
Next year the Posse may be vacant from the Hammers since I'm taking next year off from going...
You'll get the bug and figure out how to work it into a family vacation. π

Actually, I'm trying to work out a family vacation to Colorado next year. I can trailer my Jeep to my Sister-in-law's house in Grand Junction where my wife and kids can stay while I go out wheeling. I could take off to go wheeling for a couple of days, then return and pick them up. From what I can tell, Colorado has some fantastic wheeling places. We could even hit Moab on the way home (right on the way).
Since it's just a two rig run (Rob and Myself), we'll have to run the trails in a progressive order. We'll start with the easiest trail first and work up to the harder ones. This way, if we have a big failure on the harder trails, we'll at least get a few days of wheeling in before we have to head home.
Sun = North Jack (late run (short))
Mon = Sledge Hammer (in town early)
Tues = Outer Limits
Wed = Wrecking Ball
Thur = Highway 20
Fri = Leave for Home
Are you planning to meet up with any of the southern CA guys or doing everything on your own?

That's the spirit. Sounds like a fun trip!

Nope...all by our lonesomes π
It was kinda nice being on our own last year. The SoCal guys are okay, but it's nice wheeling/camping with guys you know you like. Low risk π

Maybe this is why there is only two going this year. I'm new around here but maybe the guys don't like you JohnDF π

I guess that's possible.
I would go but I don't think my jeep could handle itself down there. Someday π
This site might help you get some new recruits. http://rubiconscat.com/Hammers/RocktoberHome.htm
I don't need anybody else to go. Anybody from the Posse is welcome to join us, but I aint recruiting.
The only thing anybody's Jeep would need is 35" tires, low gears, two lockers, a winch, and skid plates. We wheeled with a guy two years ago that runs a YJ with 35s. He goes everywhere down there. It's not really much harder than Fordyce, except there's a lot more of it. For instance, Jack Hammer is like running Fordyce Winch Hill #1 (5 times back to back).
