Trying to slow down my life style and enjoy the great outdoors. Sold my C7 Z06 and bought a '16 Rubicon. So far i love it! I'm used to going 150mph on the freeway but I'm getting more enjoyment with crawling over obstacles. This is defiantly a new world to me and my teenage sons. I want to thank Jeff_R for telling me about your group and I hope to go on as many runs as possible to learn and enjoy this sport with you.

That doesn't sound very safe.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

I've had the Jeep for about a month and have already changed the fenders and rear bumper. I've bought a soft top, tube doors, tons of recovery gear, radios, fire extinguisher, more tools just to keep in the Jeep, and a lot of small accessories. I love the fact that you can change it so much. It all ready had a winch and I think a 2" lift.rnrn

Welcome to the forum Zac. As I mentioned when we first communicated, the Strawberry run on August 8th would be a great first run to join us on. Unfortunately I can't make it but the other members will give you all the assistance you need should you be able to make it.

Awesome Zac, I will be leading that run. I am sure your rig will have no issues meeting the tech requirements, but you may want to take a look at our Technical section on the web site and just make sure all the boxes are checked grin

We tend to be a mix of HAM and CB, feels like more HAM recently since as a non-profit we were able to get assigned VHF and UHF channels for the club that do not require us all to have Amateur Radio licenses. Most folks HAM folks are using handheld radios. For the Strawberry run I can set my second channel to a GMRS frequency and relay important messages to you.

This is what I have (click this link and the one below): GT-3TP

I believe this is another popular one: BF-F8HP

Tyler Laursen can program it remotely for you if you get the programing cable. He sells these radios and the cable on his website. Here is his website: https://myoffroadradio.com/shop/

Tyler is a friend of ours so let him know that you are involved with our club. Here is his contact page: https://myoffroadradio.com/contact-us/

Hello Zac

I splurged and got the BF-F8HP for $60 a couple of years ago and went online to figure out how to program the frequencies as Tyler and I could not sync up. It is best if Tyler can program it for you but the unit is usable out of the box.

Tyler is a good guy and if you decide to buy one use Jeff's link to Tyler's shop page as it will redirect you to Amazon and you can buy the unit for the same price. This way Tyler gets a little something for the referral but costs you nothing extra.

Most of the handheld Ham radios can easily have the frequencies be manually programed in. Gold Hills uses 5. The frequencies are listed in another thread and Can be added to the radio with out the programing cable.

If I can't build it, then it's something that should be bought.
