I'm looking at some new 15x8 steel wheels to replace my old 15x10 aluminum wheels. The ones I like come with either 4" backspacing or 4.75" backspacing. I would like to bring my wheels/tires in as much as possible to reduce the stress on the axles, etc.

On a YJ with 33x12.50 tires, does anyone know if the 4.75" backspacing would rub?

I know they'd rub on a TJ...not sure on a YJ...but my gut tells me they'll rub and limit steering.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

Before you try and go too narrow, keep in mind that wear and tear happens no matter what and a little width can go a long way on the trail.
