I am trying to decide between the Synergy HD tie rod (1.376in Diameter) and the Teraflex HD tie rod (1.6in Diameter). The teraflex comes with mount and the synergy does not. Both similar in price once I buy synergy's bracket and both seem like good units.

What are your thoughts between these? Also what do you think about the factory tie rod?

Second question is about an oil/trans skid plate. Ordering either the hardrock or MORE off road version. Both in steel.

Thanks!

Why not buy local and get the Roughstuff tie rod? They give a discount for walk-in customers plus there is a 20% off sale this weekend. http://www.ruffstuffspecialtie.....IEROD.html

Ditto for the Metalcloak skid plate system. Take a look under Drew's Jeep next time he comes to a run. http://www.metalcloak.com/Unde.....p/3365.htm

I totally forget about ruff stuff all over again! I will be going there tomorrow. I will look into the metal cloak plate as well. I'd prefer to just get the oil pan skid for now.

Thanks Kris!

they are currently installed but not fitting the best

I very well might be the least qualified to give advice here but... I would return them to Ruff Stuff and find some that fit.  The idea of taking more metal out of the joint does not sound good to me.

I went with Rubicon Express Skid Plates.  They seemed to be reasonably priced and of good quality.  However, the MetalCloak ones look very nice.  I may have considered them if they were available when I installed mine.  I like the MC system as it gives full coverage with little to no areas to get hung up on in the rocks etc.  They are also local and very easy to work with.

From what I have heard, everything has been resolved with the tie rod and then some. thumbs-up

As for skid plates, the Metalcloak ones are nice, but $1300 seems like a lot. Then again, I don't view skid plates as a one time replacement item. grin

I went to rock and road performance. Super awesome deal. Did not need much of a ream. Also his welds are legit. So could definitely be another place to consider for any welding work!

I have not decided about the skid yet!

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I have a reemer and I'm pretty sure Jeff does as well.

Best part is now you use a standard 1-ton taper TRE so much easier to find spares on the trail.

I run the Rock Hard plates. Install is easy. Fit is good.
