Besides lift kits and lockers, what modification/bolt-on would you consider to get the most bang for your buck?

Based on my most recent experience, following closely on the heels of lift and protection, I'd go with a top notch set of tires before locking.

Yes, skid plates should be priority #1

I used to wheel a lot. . .

Sounds like armor is the best money spent after saftey and recovery.

What about odd mods? I was reading an article where a guy took the roof rack off of a junk yard Ford Explorer and bolted them onto his TJ Hardtop so he could mount his kayaks on top.

Not sure if this is an odd mod but I replaced my plastic OEM coolant and washer bottles with stainless steel water bottles. I was limited on space and these fit nicely.

Fuzzy dice are good for a 10% HP gain.

I vote for spare drive shafts and other spare parts.

I really like having a good CB. I like the conversation.

I also really liked my "camping" lights. I can't say I see a whole lot of need for rock lights other than to turn your headlights off to avoid blinding the person in front of you, but it sure makes setting up a tent in the dark a whole lot easier. 😀

I like protection as the first investment. Then probably a CB. Spare parts are good too but if your rig is up to snuff and you are wheeling within your rigs capabilities you shouldn't break. My breakage has been from stupidity or lack of maintenance. Both of these problems are avoidable.
