So i just picked up a new set of ATX Beadlocks for my rig. I'm thinking I need to go with a set of new tires as well. I have two sets as of tires now, but thinking of going with something new and fresh. I figure if I sell my two used sets I could pick up a new set for no out of pocket costs. What do you guys think and what tires should I buy?

My current sets are:

37in Goodyear Kevlars
38in Super Swamper SSRs

Thinking 38-40s would be cool. I daily drive it for now.

Um...what?

My opinion is MTR's, and I would stay away from 40s on a daily driver..you can do it, but the ride and gas milage suck..

those tires would need to be in very good condition for you to step across into a new set of tires.

38" MT/R's are about 1600 a set. 40's are about 100 more.

I was able to buy brand new Toyo M/T's (37x13.50) for $900. If neither of your sets are new (say 95%+ tread), you'll have a tough time. Interco tires don't draw a lot of money outside of IROC's and I'm assuming your MT/R's are the old tread pattern. If not, you may be able to get more.

My 38's drive well enough to be a daily driver, and they get better mileage that my Toyo's did! But they are expensive to replace. I have a long wheel base jeep which probably helps too.

Good luck.

You could buy a daily driver for the price of a new set of 40" Kevlar MT/Rs

I used to wheel a lot. . .

I have wondered why everyone refers to the Goodyear tire as a "kevlar"?

All the MT/R's come with Kevlar in the new tire.
The Old tread pattern is the one which converted to the inclusion of Kevlar, right?

It seems everyone I talk to keeps using the kevlar term...

My MTRs are the new style. Thought about putting them on the wheels but I would like to go a little larger. I just don't know if it's worth going from 37 MTRs to 38 MTRs. Figured maybe I'll just buy 40s since I'll get there someday, right?

Um...what?

Do you have 4 or 5 of the 37" MTR Kevlars? How much tread? How much do you want for them? You can pm me if you want.

Like Rob says, if you want 40's just go that route.

The 38's are 14.50's. The 40's are 13.50's.

Unless you plan on going to The Hammers or running Foryce in record time regularly, I would stick to 37's. No need to spend extra money on 40's just for bragging rights. 😈

I just don't know if 42's are a wise idea for my dana 44. lol

Has anybody heard or know anyone running Yokohama Geolander MTs?

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... M%2FT+Plus

They seem to be the right price and I can get a discount through a buddy.

Um...what?

I wouldn't go 40s (or bigger) on a D44 unless it's just a mall crawler.

What do you want them for? Their sidewall is weak for the rocks, but ok for a truck's on-road ride.
