I have tried the google with no luck.

My rear seat belts will lock up and not retract every once in a while due to dirt and dust getting into the retractor. The OEM seat belt retractor has no cover on the retractor itself and is only covered by the plastic trim. I'm going to remove the trim for more space under my security trunk.

Does anyone know if there is anything special about the OEM rear seatbelts (excluding center) in a JKU Sport?

Could I replace them with a set of universal 3-point seat belts with the same type of mounting hardware and covered retractor without compromising safety? There are no aftermarket seat belts specifically for the JKU that I could find.

Thanks.

Kevin

Check with the dealer because it is possible they may cover it since it is a safety issue. Never hurts to try.

I think the seatbelts have some type of electrical connection.  Just check for that before removing them.

I know the fronts do, but I don't see any wires to the rear seatbelts in mine.

Yes, but they would still be uncovered.

Talk with the guys at PRP seats they seem to have a lot of seat, seat belt expertise.
