My first time for smog in a long time. The DMV says its time for the 06 jeep. How hard are the smog places on aftermarket intake systems ?

My intake system has a carb #,but its only up to the 04 models. I have my other intake system but I was hoping I would'nt have to change it out for the test.

    I've never kept a vehicle so long.......Well high school,that ford pinto....A heck of a car. πŸ˜‚

Just try a no pass, no pay place. If it's carb legal for 04's, I don't think they'd notice on an 06. Who knows though.

    Um...what?

The smog station will plug in the CARB number and you'll know right away.

I'd say whether or not they pull the number varies wildly. My old 4Runner came to me with an aftermarket cam. I passed for years. Finally someone looked up the CARB number and realized the cam could only go in 85-86 models. Mine was an 87 so even though it was the same engine I failed. The actual smog numbers were great. It only shows up as a visual fail which can mean about anything so there really isn't any harm in seeing if they catch it. If you fail go somewhere else and tell them you had some vacuum line problems or something they would see on a visual. The computer doesn't store the details.

I ran an aftermarket air intake the whole time I owned my TJ. It had a carb number and i never had any smog problems in the 13 years I owned it.

Why not contact the manufacturer and request an updated CARB sticker? Do they make a model that you can get a sticker for? I run an aFe intake on the JK and it's not currently CARB, but pending approval. The manufacturer said to just call back and they'll mail me one. But I'm not up for smog yet.

The intake is only carb# for 97 to 04 tj's. Alot of changes where done to the 05-06 tj's. So there are quite a few thing that will not work or change over from other models.

But with all that said.....I PASSED.

Lets just say if you have an underhood welder and people have never seen one......What was I lookin for under the hood again....That tool is already paying its way.

Plus you get ten dollars off for not being the guy that screams at him for the lowrider honda not passing. 😁

I wonder if that would work at the DMV.
