I'm interested in a place that you can pick up descent used tire(s) for the purpose of the spare. Hopefully wheel too. This would be the budget minded approach and wonder if anyone's been down this path or similar. I've no idea if this is a good idea or not, so please do share any info you got.
If you know of a shop to check out, then I'd certainly welcome it. I expect to learn something from this topic.
Thanks
Want to replace the 16" spare wheel with I think 265/75/16 and get a 17" (5 on 5.5) wheel with 315/70/17 tire.....

The goodyear tire shop at Blue Ravine Rd and Folsom Blvd in Folsom has a good quality used tire sitting on their rack right now. I bet it can be bought for cheap if it's your size, or close to it for a spare. Give them a call and ask what size they have in used off-road tires.
Alternatively - Chris, the owner of Big O in EDH may have some as well. Call him and tell him you're with the GHP and ask if he has anything in the size you need used.
One of those two options should get you what you need.
Good luck!

Went to the Goodyear shop, looked at the rack outside. No size for me so I asked if that was it. "We don't sell used tires." "Oh....then what are those? (obviously not new)" "Those are just for display."
Went to tire experts on Main st. and Greenback. They have 35/12.5/17 in good condition Procomp A/T. $60. Found same thing at Tire Depot on Bidwell near Natomas. No one has used wheels around.
Greg, gimme one of those rims. 😀
So gotta hunt a rim down. Have not had a chance to call Big O yet.

Big O also does not deal in used schtuff. They recc'd the dodge recycling place off sunrise. Sounds like a good idea.
Yes same bolt pattern.
I could match the wheels for $140ish or get new cheap steel wheel or check the recycling place.
Edit:
For used/scrap wheels
All Dodge Truck near Gold River: $65
AAA Dodge and Truck: $100 <-- yea right
