First things that comes to mind are u-joints, motor mounts and transmission mount.
I broke a motor mount a few years ago just starting up one morning ... of course it was factory original and 16 years old at the time.

You mention sound at transfer case-to-driveshaft, I believe there is a snap ring back there....that can tend to explode itself or come off. It is a common thing on the Dodge nv231 TCs. Are you talking about the Jeep in your avatar picture?
To check my guess is to drop d/s and pull tail piece out to look....
