So I’m thinking about getting a cell phone mount for the JK. Any recommendations out there? I need one that can handle off-roading hardcore like me.
What speed are you taking the speed bumps at the mall at and what is your tire pressure?
You sure do like poking the bear lately don't you? I think you've spending too much time on NorCal 4x4...
Um...what?

Do you have photographic evidence that you were on the Fordyce run. If so, I will lay off.

OfflineI bought the Rugged Ridge one and was not happy with it, however I removed the universal mount, put a RAM ball on it and a RAM X-Wing accessory mount and it works very well. However at this point I just built a less elegant version of the 67 Designs one so unless you already have the Rugged Ridge one, I would go 67 Designs.
If anyone has the Rugged Ridge one, happy to show you how to improve it with the RAM stuff.

OfflineGreg, my theory is if I keep riding you we will get you out on the trail more often. That said, I know how much my priorities changed after my first born! Personally, I would really love to get Scott to organize another Nevada overland trip like the one I went on with the club.

Since you are the smartest, nicest, best looking and most skilled wheeler I know, it would be nice to get you out on the trail with us more often. There, how's that?

My phone sits in my mount above my nav, where I play my music.
Brad, what mount do you have?

Just being curious but do you guys have your phones on the dash to use as a GPS or to use as a video camera?Just asking cause I personally just leave my phone in my pocket so it's safe and no matter what happens I know where it is
I totally get leaving it in your pocket, that's where mine has been for the last 16 years. But I want to be able to use it for music and for the gaia mapping app.
Um...what?

Both plus music control. The GPS apps in the phones are way better than the built in stuff now days. Can have google on the phone on the street and then switch to avenza/gaia/other offroad specific app when we hit the trail. The placement of the mount makes it easy to do a time-lapse on part of the drive if you want to film. And on trails where the tree cover is too thick for the XM to handle, the phone becomes the source.
When not on the trail, the phone mount is useful for me so i remember to plug in the charger. Too many times I will get somewhere and pull my phone out to find a 10% battery warning which is frustrating when you are stuck in a waiting room.
