If I got ripped off on e-bay, and I used paypal, what are the steps I need to take to get my $$$ back?

I was supposed to get an item in 5 days, now it's been 19 days. The company told me it shipped on day one. Then on day 11, I e-mailed them and they replied that it shipped back on Nov 30th, even though the USPS said it hadn't shipped yet. Now they are ignoring my e-mails at day 19.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

and they keep sending me e-mails to remind me to leave positive feedback...like that's going to happen.

First was the vendor "verified" by Paypal? If so, you just go to the customer service link on Paypal and explain your problem.

However, first - how many transactions did the vendor have on e-bay? If they are a powerseller, I have a tough time thinking they'd stiff you. Has the vendor provided a tracking number? It sounds like they have. If so, I'd reference it with the vendor again and let them know that if it's not resolved at this point in time, you will e-mail e-bay explaining the problems, leave negative feedback for them on e-bay, and revoke the transaction though paypal and notify paypal of their unscrupulous business tactics. I would then expect resolution one way or another.

If the seller is small, not a powerseller and not verified through paypal, you may be hosed.

Good luck!

That's exactly what I did yesterday. Still waiting to hear back from them...

Did you have pay pal take the money out of your checking/savings account or against a credit card? If it was on your credit card could you just file a dispute with that bank and have them reverse the charges? I am sure pay pal wouldn't like that, but you have to protect yourself. I haven't read a lot of warm fuzzy stories about pay pal when it comes to being stiffed when you purchase something. Maybe things have changed over the last few years with them and they try and do a better job of protecting their customers.

Update:

I contacted paypal. You'll be happy to know that they were very helpful. They proved the package had not been shipped and they were able to refund our money on the spot. They were awsome! Because it had been more than 20 days, they were able to take care of it imediately. Now, I guess I should go leave some negative feedback on the sellers e-bay page.

That's great to hear that Paypal took care of you. I've used Paypal quite a bit for private sales & transactions directly with small businesses but never have bought anything off ebay.

Now the company I bought from is sending "payment due" reminders 🙄
I wrote them back and said to stop sending me the notices or I will leave bad feedback.

Leave negative feedback so all can see they take money and don't ship. What did you try and buy?

We tried to buy some controllers for the Wii game that look like light sabers (kids/Christmas). Now we'll have to find some locally.

Thread hi-jack: 😈

I bought my niece's a Wii for Christmas. They are ages 5,6, and 8. Do you recommend any good active games I should buy for them to go with it? Something not too violent. 😕

So now the seller has filed a claim against us claiming that we never paid for the item. e-bay is threatening to take away our account. Elena is on the phone with them right now.

e-bay is looking into it 🙄 It even says on the item page that my money was refunded. I don't know why they were even allowed to file a claim 👿

Lego starwars was $14.99 at EDH Target two weeks ago. I already have it, so I didn't buy it. It's an older game, so the price should be fairly reasonable.
