i use outlook for work. i set it up on my phone using the exchange server and it works great. i get emails faster to my phone than i do on my pc at work!! 😎

Do you use the calendar function?

yes. its awesome. whats cool is that it color codes the items if you have 2 differnt calendars set up on your outlook. for example. i have a personal calendar and the main calendar in outlook. the phone lists both calendars in one view and bullet lists in either orange or red depending on which calendar the item is from. 😎

So far I've added a flashlight (it was free πŸ˜› ), flick fish (game), solitaire (game), kids vs zombies (game), and some ring tones.

I'm starting to investigate using my Exchange as a calendar. Any other cool stuff I can add or use (besides music)?

Ooh...does the phone have an alarm clock feature, or can I app one?

Also, I was able to set up my yahoo mail but I'm having trouble with my Exchange mail. It loads but I can't see the e-mails. It acts like it's empty.

Hmmmm. Sounds like a call to the service desk is in order. Dan, Fred? πŸ˜€

I like the "my caddie" app. It's a golfing app that uses gps to tell you how far you are from a hole or trap or water hazzard. It's pretty cool

Yes, and yes. The clock app that comes with your iphone has an alarm clock and there are many other alarm clock apps too. I've downloaded "Clock Light" to use as our alarm clock in the rv.

I could help with Yahoo mail but not Exchange. My employer doesn't allow personal iphones to connect to our Exchange servers. I do recall that something needs to be installed or activated in the Exchange server to allow iphones to work with them.

I contacted my IP guy and he said he'd have to play with my phone to see if he could get the Exchange mail to work. Our district employees use Blackberries. Maybe I'll do an internet search for it...

I've made a point of staying away from mail servers as much as I can, but I do know that there are specialized Crackberry servers/services installed to handle the mail transactions for those phones specifically (expensive too from what I remember)

.... I think you had to have per device licensing setup for each device as well....

That's whAt my employer said too. They wouldn't help Joe professional set it up because they told him it wasn't supported or approved. I said BS and started messing with the settings and with little trouble got it working. It doesn't make sence to me that my company can hand out blackjacks and blackberries but no apples. 😀

Now that you've had your iphone for a few days, how's it working out? What apps have you downloaded and found useful?

I like it. Checking emails is actually easier on my iphone than my computer. My contacts list was super easy to enter and even easier to pull up and select a number. I haven't looked, but I hope there is a way to set the sleep mode so it stays operational a little longer before going to sleep. The games I got for it are fun and easy to play (that's important for me. I haven't had much time to do anything else. I'll be investigating it more in the coming weeks.

For the sleep mode, aka auto lock, go into settings then General, there's an option to set the auto lock timer.

Update...I guess my exchange mail is set up okay. It works when I get new emails, but I still have to figure out why I'm not seeing the old emails.

im betting that your old email is stored off the server and on your pc. work does that here because we have limits on storage on the exchange server.
