I've got one of these Zebralight headlights - http://goinggear.com/index.php?main_pag ... cts_id=140
It's a very floody type of light with no real hotspot. It's great for working up close work or around a camp but doesn't do well for long distances. This one uses a single AA battery and has a warm/neutral tint emitter. They have others that use CR123 or 18650 batteries and/or cooler white emitters.
I don't have any experience with any other headlights.
There's a forum dedicated to headlights on candlepowerforums.com with a lot of information - http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/for ... 706c26&f=6

I just received this one from eBay. Works great...and cheap...
It does have a hot spot.
