Got any details on this? Teddi will be really upset if she can't drive her hybrid in the carpool lane.

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed Assembly Bill 1500 on July 7, 2010,, providing a perk that allows drivers of pure electric vehicles and cars running on compressed natural gas to drive solo in California carpool lanes until Jan. 1, 2015. But the privilege was not extended to conventional hybrids. The hybrids, whose yellow "California Clean Air Vehicle" stickers permit single-occupant access to the state's High-Occupancy Vehicle Lanes, will lose that privilege when the stickers expire at midnight, Dec. 31 this year. There is still a chance that SB 535 could pass, pushing the deadline for hybrids to July 1, 2011.

I knew the hybrid carpool exemption was temporary. I just never knew they would switch to all-electric and natural gas as the next "approved" exemptions...

We knew it was temporary too but it was a good run while it lasted, six years for us. Oh well, I started riding my bike in to work today anyways.

Sorry, no pics of me in my spandex shorts. But here's one of my new bike sitting in my cubicle. The color's a little off though. It's red not orange. I bought it 7/3 and have put 110 miles on it already.

Not sure. I'm hoping not to have to buy a new car for a while. I hate car payments!

I've got a mount for my iphone on the handlebars and use an app called Cyclemeter to keep track of all my rides. I guess I'm a tech geek. 😯

Here's a map of a ride I did up at Union Valley Reservoir last Sunday - http://maps.google.com/?q=http://share. ... 1-1404.kml

That's not a bad idea!

We were camped at Sunset campground and didn't see or hear of any bears all weekend.

Nice wheels! I'm very happy with my Specialized mountain bike. Just wish I had more time to ride it. How far is your commute? I keep trying to get motivated to give it a shot, but man there are some serious hills up here. 😀

I also have a computer on my bike, but it's no where near as cool as yours.

It's 11 miles from my house to work. 8.5 miles is on bike trails and the rest is on the road. It takes me about an hour to get to work and about 45 minutes to get home. I take it easy going in but push myself harder on the way home.

My old bike is a Specialized Hard Rock too. I still really like it and it's been a good bike. I had been riding it with Chuck on his road bike and just couldn't keep up. I put street/hybrid tires on it which helped a lot but it wasn't enough.
