I owe my son Ryan a "fun day". He loves shooting and I was thinking of taking him to an indoor gun range and rent a few guns that he would love to shoot. He's shot rifles, wheel guns, and shotguns before. He's responsible and a good listener. I was thinking a 1911 style, a single action "cowboy gun", and possibly a sporting rifle of some sort, lower calibers of course. Any recommendations on a child friendly establishment?

I'm not familiar with any indoor ranges, but check with John "Scoped". His shop has an indoor range and I believe they do rentals.
Have you considered outdoor ranges (Sacramento Valley Shooting Center is where I go) or going up to the forest? Rentals wouldn't work for either of those options but you may have some friends here that may have some things he might enjoy.

Ya, we've went out to an open areas around Forest hill and shot before. Mostly .22s and .380s. It's fun, but I wanted him to be able to pick some guns he's been wanting to shoot; like a kid in a candy store. The air conditioning doesn't hurt either. My backup plan is to call Rob

I do work for The Gun Room (Elk Grove @ Grantline rd and 99) which has an indoor pistol range. We do rent some guns but our air circulation system refreshes the entire range about every 2 min, so if its above 90 outside it is not going to be too much cooler in the range. We do rent firearms though my last 1911 went down a few weeks ago and I don't have a replacement currently. If you interested let me know ill get you some range passes.
If you do plan on coming in or even if you want to go somewhere else and need a few firearms to take out for the day let me know i don't mind loaning some of my personal firearms depending on what you are looking to shoot.
