I'm giong camping at silverlake this coming weekend and like to take iron mtn rd / mormon emigrant trail.
Have any of you guys been up there lately, is the road still closed with snow?
The forest website says its closed with a last update of june 10th. Just seems to me like it would be open by now, if not I guess I'll just take 16 to Jackson and head up hwy 88.

Thanks

I was talking with one of the guys at work this morning. He said he went camping off North-South Road last weekend and ran into snow in the area. I don't recall how close Silverfork Road and North-South Road are though.

We went up to Bassi falls this past weekend and as we drove by the Sly Park Exit we looked to see if they had the signs up stating the road was closed. We didn't see any. In the past they would post signs before you got off the freeway stating that MIT was closed.

WEll I finally was able to find some info on google, it was hard finding anything since its not a maintained road. According the the site the road was still closed on June 10th. I guess I'm gonna save a bunch of time just going 88 since I know for a fact I can get there that way. Looks like my camping weekend will be cold. Temps at silver lake atre still 35 at night and predicting 55 during the day! 🙂

Just call the ranger station there in Camino off Hwy 50. They know.
