This is purely hypothetical...

What do you think the towing capacity of a JK Unlimited will be with the new Penstar 6 cyl motor?
Do you think it would be able to tow my TJ on a trailer?

I used to wheel a lot. . .

Any idea what your current Jeep weights now? The current JKU is only good for 3,500 lbs right? I wouldn't hold my breath for a whole lot more capacity than that. Isn't towing what the Tundra is for? mr-green

Flat tow maybe, on a flat bed, NOT A CHANCE..Your TJ and trailer would outweigh the JK, not to mention you would destroy the JK tranny....

Kind of what I was figuring.
Still, at least we got some posts on this forum, it's been dead all weekend.

The towing capacity on our Grand Cherokee with the Penstar motor is 5000. I'm betting your jeep on a trailer is pushing 7000 pounds..

I was figuring it could be 5000 lbs with the new motor.

The 2.8L Diesel in the european JKU is rated for 7,000lbs towing. and it's mileage rating is 28/36.

I still think a flat tow is your best bet. even with 7000 lb max tow. your pushing your luck with the weight of the trailer and jeep filled with gear. Also have to take into account passengers in the JK. Dont know if your tranny would hold up to that strain.
you could always join the Tundra Posse. or even better...wait till Toyota comes out with a diesel Tundra. Now thats where its at. drooling

The weeds haven't grown in up here yet. mr-green I fixed the brakes on the truck and painted the deck chairs so I have somewhere to sit after the weed eating.
