Time for some water talk. πŸ˜‰

Are you working on the fish ladder project at the Lincoln Gauging Station? I saw your name on one of the emails I received about this project.

Yes! And apparently they can climb ladders, too! 😲

Circus fish? Climbing ladders is tough for dogs, much less fish...

Yup. I'm the PM. We "started" today. Not much of a start with all this rain, but the next few weeks are going to get pretty crazy. I've never worked on a project with so many permits. Your biologists are heavily involved too. I think they may be down your way calibrating their equipment this afternoon.

The goal is to get the salmon and steelhead up toward Auburn. There's a ton of work to do, but this ladder is the first step. Pretty different from the type of stuff I normally do, but it's a pretty fun project.

Cool! I'll be stopping by periodically to try and figure out how much flow is coming down the ravine.

Our biologist were here for a while getting all the equipment calibrated. Now I need to recalibrate our lab guy, he's not used to a bunch of women hanging out in the lab. πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ I need to get him refocused on work.

Out of the creek around Thanksgiving with any luck. So Justin...when you saw the "mud pit" did you have any doubts...I did. I can start sleeping again once this thing is over.

I never had any doubts. It was quite impressive to see such a small stream opened up big enough to put that huge excavator in. 😎

The first pic is the mud pit. And, the second pic is what my guys saw when they were out there this weekend. Was it an offering to mother nature or something? They didn't see any contractors around. πŸ˜‚

I couldn't believe they forgot their donuts when I saw them Sunday. I was more impressed that the homeless guys up the creek didn't steal them. Check it out in the next day or so. They're moving some serious rock in there! Looks way different than your picture.

I saw it with the walls in. How deep do they go?

I'll come check it out Monday to see the progress with the rock.

The walls vary, but they're around 14 feet deep on the edges.

This project looks interesting to me. Is there a public site to peruse more information about it?

Sort of, but I know a guy that knows a guy that can give you a tour, or, for those that like that sort of thing, the drawing set is here:

All of our environmental documents are on the website, but, they're pretty dry.

KTVU in the Bay Area did a story (with video) on it as well. It's on their website but I can't figure out how to link directly to it. 😎 I've never talked to so many reporters in my life! I must not be a very good interview though...they used the pictures and info that I gave them but I didn't make my television debut.

Oh and, we've actually seen salmon this past month while out doing our river checks. 😎 😎 😎 The water is so shallow at our monitoring stations, we could reach down and pet the fish as they swim by.

We have to plant trees out there for the next 4 years. πŸ™„ I'll start working on the water tonight and try to keep it up through the weekend. πŸ˜€

I'll admit that I'm probably more liberal (or at least closer to the middle) than a lot of this group and even I'm scared to death of the current situation in the CA legislature.
