If true, it would seem like a smart business move. Don't they also own Pro Comp?

Brad and Joe will be in heaven, their two favorite business's rolled in to one lol Now if 4wheel parts bought Extreme Gear, they wouldn't have to go anywhere else lol lol ๐Ÿ˜ก

And I thought Trans American auto parts owned both 4wheel parts and Procomp, so Trans American would be buying 4wheel parts??

If true the purchase doesn't seem to make sense because they have trying to go upscale with pro comp which would directly compete. However there's a lot of money in the mopar lift contract that 4 wheel parts could benefit from.

Leading Off-Road Parts Supplier Continues Growth

May 2, 2011(Compton, CA) โ€“ TransAmerican Auto Parts, the nationโ€™s leading retailer and supplier of off-road truck & Jeep accessories, has announced the purchase of Rubicon Express.

President and CEO Greg Adler stated, โ€œThis acquisition is a perfect fit for TransAmerican.ย  Rubicon Express is the leader in the Jeep suspension category.ย  Their heritage, founded on the famous Rubicon trails of Northern California, is deep in the hard core suspension performance.ย ย  Jeep enthusiasts have come to know Rubicon Express as the ultimate system for their vehicles.ย  Our 4Wheel Parts stores and our 4Wheel Drive Hardware business serve these enthusiasts and the Rubicon brand will strengthen this core segment.ย  Our 25 years of experience in suspension manufacturing at Pro-Comp will help in the integration of the Rubicon businessโ€.

โ€œTransAmerican has made a number of strategic acquisitions to grow the businessโ€ Adler explained.ย  โ€œAs the economy improves and our business continues to strengthen, it will allow us to look at more strategic opportunities such as Rubicon Expressโ€, he added.

Founded in 1961, TransAmerican Auto Parts is the leading participant in the aftermarket parts and accessories for light trucks, Jeeps, sport utility vehicles, and other four-wheel drive vehicles.ย  The Company sells tires and wheels, suspension systems, drive trains, accessories, and other products to consumers through 55 retail locations in 17 states under the 4 Wheel Parts Performance Centers name, to more than 4,000 wholesale customers, including specialty auto parts stores, tire and wheel stores, repair and garage shops, internet retailers and jobbers under the TransAmerican Wholesale name.ย  It also sells to consumers and businesses through mail order and internet operations under the 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers name.ย  In addition, the Company operates a manufacturing business that sells tires and wheels, suspension systems and accessories under the Pro Comp and Smittybilt brand name, both through the Companyโ€™s own distribution channels as well as through third parties.

TAP is the parent company name. The company originally started with a merger of TAP and 4-WheelParts, but the TAP name became the parent. Greg is the President. 4-WhelParts is just a division.

I'd hardly consider RE a failing company. They have the Mopar contract which is larger than the sales volume of most aftermarket lift suppliers.

A poorly managed company doesn't mean the company itself is a failing company.

Since when? Shutting your doors to "reorganize" then being bought out by your competitor = failing. The sale probably saves them from bankruptcy. Sounds the definition of a failing company to me.

How do you get that Parts Mike is a failing business, Mike started that business in his garage after he retired. He just sold his hobby, name included for just shy of a million dollars. What the new owner does with the company is up to them.
