Kelly and I spent the weekend up in Oregon and I got to wondering...what are they doing right that we (CA) are doing wrong? No sales tax and from what I can gather from the internet pretty middle of the road income and local taxes. But, their parks are great, their trails are clean, their schools are rated higher than ours, shoot...their gas prices were cheaper and they don't let you pump your own gas. I wonder how the four wheeling is. 😀

We love the state parks in Oregon for rv camping. They're better than most private rv parks here in CA and the state parks here are dumps in comparison. 🙁

Oregon has less people, less social programs, and a different way of thinking about things. California is becoming one big city with all the problems that it brings.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

Oregon makes up their lack of sales tax on the property tax. It is much higher than here in California.

It's higher, but not crazy compared to the rest of the country. According to this CA has some of the lowest property taxes in the nation.

Property taxes and state income taxes maybe?

I like full serve gas for less than CA. I know Kauai has the same social employment gas program as Oregon.

I know they've lost a lot of logging revenue lately... 😯
