I have several items in my outbox that won't move to the sent box? Does anyone else have this problem or know what may be causing it?

Offline The outbox contains messages you've sent that the recipient hasn't read yet. When they read it the message will move to your sent items. One nice thing about the way this works is if you decide you didn't want to send the message or need to change it you have the opportunity to delete or edit the message until they read it.
