is the rubicon doable this time of year
can you go part way and snowshoe part etc..
im thinking theres gonna be snow at some point or its closed
if you can go part way wheres the best spot to start
is snow camping allowed
if i leave jeep on the side somewhere will it be there as a whole wen i get back to it
any info would help

The Rubicon is a County Road so it should be open year round unless the wonderful lawsuits have stopped it. However the road is not plowed and can be difficult to get on if you go through Loon instead of Wentworth.

I think they close the Loon entrance to 4x4s this time of the year. It's for snowmobiles only. Not sure where that closure starts or stops. Check the Rubicon section of the Pirate Board for the best information.
I wouldn't recommend going by yourself I'm one vehicle.
If your looking for a good place to snow wheel and snow shoe, I recommend going up hwy 50 to sly park, go right and then turn left in Mormon immigrant rd. The road is not plowed at will progressively become harder to drive on. At that point when you feel like stopping, you can get out and snowshoe. Very beautiful scenery. That's where the club will be going January 12th for the snow patrol. .

I wonder when it stops because we've ran it whenever we can get over the plow berm.
If it's snow mobiles only, I'd be really interested in a "equal access" class action lawsuit based on government use of taxdollars on public land. Do snowmobilers pay some kind of extra tax that affords them protected access to county roads? It seems like a snowmobile can drive cross country on open terrain without restriction currently if the snow is at least 24" deep, correct?
