I was thinking about the millions of miles of high speed data cables traversing the planet, and the ever increasing data rates we are all enjoying. The bits and bytes sizzling around as we send our emails, download movies, upload pictures and text our friends must have some impact on the planet. I suddenly realized that the true cause of global warming is not greenhouse gasses and carbon emissions, it is heat generated from the friction of data moving around the planet.
There's the irony. Al Gore -- inventor of the internet -- is ultimately responsible for global warming.
