Just FYI, if you own a jeep Wrangler, the radiator is not under the powertrain warranty. Darrel made a good observation on a recent snow run that my jeep smelled a lot like coolant. I didn't see any leaks or notice anything unusual and the temperature gauge seemed normal. I continued to drive the jeep until recently, I had a check engine light come on regarding an o2 sensor. I took the jeep to the local dealership since it has around 39K miles on her. I mentioned the smell of coolant and thought possibly they could be related and hopefully still under the warranty.
Well, my radiator has a crack in it and it is not covered under the 5 year 60k powertrain warranty...I hate jeeps!! They quoted me $1400 for a replacement. More expensive due to my winch that would be in the way during the replacement process.
Don't worry, they are not doing the install for me. But how the heck does a radiator under 40k miles have a crack in it already? I know people have worse things to complain about but you guys are my wheeling family, so you get to hear about it.
Um...what?

or $1,400 for a replacement?? Jesus. . .
My wife's toyota minivan needed new gas strut/lift things for the rear hatch. Stealership: $300, which is 2 hours of labor. The parts at Napa (2 struts) were like $40, maybe $50. Flathead screwdriver, pop each old one off, new ones on. 15 minutes tops, even for my idiot-level skills. Just amazing. . . imagine how many people, whether from ignorance or just not having the time to mess with it, agree to those inflated fees. . . .

Take it to Folsom lake. Mine failed at 13000 miles. No warranty. They quoted me 650. I asked if they could locate a modine for me that was brass. They found and installed it for the same price. I thought that was pretty nice of them.
That was Folsom Lake that quoted me $1400.

Just curious..the 3.6 or the 3.8? I've been reading a lot of people having the smell of coolant issue with the 3.6's
3.6l It's a 2014. I feel like my jeep has smelled like coolant since I bought it. That's why when Darrell pointed the smell out to me, I didn't think anything of it. I brought it in for a CEL to the dealership initially and then just in conversation I said it smells a lot like coolant to me also. I thought they would just verify for me that there wasn't any issue. But to my surprise they said it was cracked.
Um...what?
