Message I received for the Motherload Rockcrawlers about work day signups.  Let me know a date and which of their tasks you are good for and I will contact them.  Please signup through me so the club gets credit for bringing people.

"Motherlode Rockcrawlers 4wd club is doing another trail work project on September 9-10September 16-17September 23-24. The USFS has asked us to co-ordinate more rock hauling/ placement, tree cutting, re-route the trail away from the creek (approx 150 ') and fix the approach into Deer Creek. This will be at the 2nd creek crossing from the lower Blue Lake side. This will be more complicated this time only because of the greater distance to haul the rock, (1 hr each way travel time). We are again asking if you may be able to help, like you did last year. Your help was greatly appreciated before and would be again. Please get back to me and let me know if any of these weekends could be good for you.

We will be meeting about 8:30am at the lower Blue Lakes dam area (off Hwy 88), have a short meet and greet go over the project description, safety discussion, assign duties then disperse to the trail to get the work done, 9:00am departure. Please wear long pants/ work boots/ bring gloves/ hard hats(if you have one). We will need people to haul rock in the jeep trailers,in & out/ chain saw operators (only if USFS certified)/ vehicles to chain or winch trees--remove brush. I have many committees to fill so let me know which might be best suited for you. This is a list of possible crews that need to be filled (Haulers/ Tree cutters/ Winch crew/ Rock placers/  1ST aid/ Communication/ Trail Patrol/ Registration/ Food Service/ Equipment Repair) . Lunch is being provided by MLRC. If anyone wants to stay the weekend MLRC is camping on the Scott Lake rd turnoff of Hwy 88 and commuting up the hill, there should also be camping at Blue Lakes or in the trail by each creek crossing. Please call or email me to get put into the proper committee and so I can have an accurate count for lunch."

I was gonna take the email to the meeting on Thursday.  I think it was supposed to be on the addenda for discussion.  I see I can do some chainsaw work, or tow a rock trailer. wink

Hey Kris I looked at the dates I can help on the 10th.  Chainsaw certified, pulling a trailer, or winching.  The other dates I'm uncertain about at this time.

I want to put my money where my mouth is and also volunteer to do something.  I lack skillz though.  I can definitely roll a rock around.  Jeep is not fully capable of towing a trailer at the moment.

Um...what?

Kris - We are available on the weekends of 9/16-17 (preference) or 9/23-24 (not &). Chainsaw certified (I'll have it with me, regards), trailering or winching. Please let me know & more specifically where we are to meet, assume 8:30A.

I need to double check some commitment dates, but I think I will be able to help on 9/09 or 9/10. I can pull a trailer, run my chainsaw (I am certified) or provide general labor.

Looks like the rock haul will be the 16-17th.  This weekend will be tree removal and trail re-alignment.

Still good for next weekend. Again, will have chainsaw with me in case. Need to know what day, where & when to meet & ball size for the trailer (or pintle).

Chainsaw work is done and trail is re-routed. Trailers are all pintle or rock and roll hitches that just slide into the receiver. Main work tomorrow and next weekend will be hauling, rock placement, and someone to help cook burgers for lunch.

Where is the meeting place for the Deer Valley trail work days? I'm not familiar with that area.

I just got home from Deer Valley. It was a very productive day. I hauled a rock trailer (there were 4 trailers being hauled) nearly  3 miles in from the trailhead. Each trailer hauled 2 loads. Someone said they moved 20 tons of stone this weekend, and they are ordering 30 tons for next weekend. It was over an hour each way. It was a great trail, sometimes a challenge with a loaded trailer but my truck did well. On the last trip out with the empty trailer, a tree removed my passenger mirror. ☹️ I hate it when they jump in front of me like that!
