It's this coming Saturday! Would anyone be willing to lead this run?
My jeep is in the shop currently and I'll update later in the week once I know more about my repairs.
The club has volunteered to perform three road patrols this year.
We will be monitoring traffic on Iron Mountain Road during the day posted above. This effort involves handing out materials to travelers and managing a vehicle count.
We will meet at the Pollock Pines Subway, just north of hwy 50, on the Sly Park exit. Meeting time: 830
We will leave for the road by 9AM, stopping by the information station to gather supplies.
We will set up the checkpoint some where we have snow for family play, or safety, depending on the weather.
The club monitors the station until about 3-4 PM at which time we return the supplies to the information station and head out for the day.
Most of the day is free so many people will take off for snow runs. We usually set up where kids can play in the snow and hopefully have a fire pit going all day long. We can coordinate food/supplies/fire pit details as the date gets closer but be sure to mark your calender.
The new trailmaster will get to lead this event!

I really want to make this run and redeem myself from this weekend. Unfortunately, at this point I have to work in the AM. I hope to get out of work and meet everyone there. We should have some fresh snow this week too which will make the trip extra fun.
Sensei! From what do you have to redeem yourself??? To me (and I'm new here so I could be my usual "clueless"), it was a perfect day. Aren't you supposed to go until stuck when you do snow runs? Aren't you supposed to challenge your driving skills and push your vehicle? The absolute funniest part of any run to me, besides the amazing scenery, camaraderie and sometimes food, is watching you fellows come up with and implement strategy for every unique situation. No matter how or why someone "gets stuck", or the trail challenges, it's such a blast to see how it gets handled. And it always succeeds. That's a good day.

All the mocking of me getting stuck a few times. Like you said, I was pushing my limits and what I could handle. Lol.
Um...what?

I will be going and can try leading this one. Never been on one of these before so as long as someone can point out the typical snow level at which the group stops we should be good.
Just go up until you get to a spot 100 yards before a Honda Civic would get stuck. Set up camp and tell all of them when they get there "you keep going you'll get stuck" then just sit back and watch the show.
If I can't build it, then it's something that should be bought.

Campfire permits all expired on December 31st, be sure to get a new one (website below).

Not sure how far we usually go past the reservoir but NOAA weather has it snowing 6-8inches between now and Saturday just a couple miles past the reservoir. 40% chance of snow saturday with no expected accumulation at reservoir level but 1 to 3 inches expected higher up the road. Looking to be a nice, if cloudy, day.

Not sure how far we usually go past the reservoir...We've done it before by going as far as the least capable vehicle can make it without getting stuck, find a large area or turn out, then set up camp. 🙂
If all the vehicles are pretty capable then not as far.
My 2¢
That's kind of what I said....... Boy, go and resign and just get tossed to the curb.

Hi everyone! My name is David Gee and I came to the last meeting, after meeting Brad at the Toy Run, with the intention of joining the Club. I plan on joining you this Saturday with 1, maybe 2, of my sons. Are we to meet at the Subway in Pollock Pines? Time?
