Our annual Barrett Lake trip was originally scheduled as a day trip on 9/13. At the last meeting there was some discussion about whether or not to make it an overnight camping trip. What's the consensus for this run?

I don't plan to camp at Barrett Lake. If I camp it will be at Wrights Lake the night after the run.

This plan would allow for some to day-trip and some to over-night. I think I'm going to be limited to a day trip for this run.

Lee was also asking about a night run in Friday night and staying at the lake. I didn't get a feel for what people thought of this idea though.

Barrett at night is a fun run, but if something goes wrong or you're moving slow it makes for a long night. There really isn't much in the way of camping in the middle of the trail.

Plus, when you roll into camp at 3 in the morning people aren't real happy to see you and they let you know the next morning. wink

A night run on Barrett would be fun...but I'm not camping at the lake...so that's out too.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

I think this is the same weekend as the marlin crawler event so i won't be able to go. Barrett is one of the trails that i want to run though.

I'm fine with a day trip and camping elsewhere, but what is wrong with camping at the lake?

It's usually crowded and noisey. That's fine for some people, but I don't like crowds much.

x2. Not much space. Fills up quick. Too many people in one little spot. I'm very territorial! I will pee on your tent if I need to mark my territory. It's not pretty.
