I am planning on taking a run up to the Bowman Lake Trail out of Nevada City this Saturday May 28th.   I have never been up there but have read it is beautiful.  From what I understand it is a very easy trail so any stock 4x4 should be fine.  We could run in to some snow at the higher elevations so we will have to see how far we can get.  Please let me know if you have any interest and we can work out the details.

Also, if anybody has done this run please give me any tips or suggestions if you don't mind.  If anybody had done this over the Memorial Day weekend before and found it to be extremely crowded and or a mistake please let me know.

I am open to other trails if somebody has a better idea on where to go on Saturday.

Thanks!

I was thinking about getting out this weekend also, since my rubicon trip was put off for the time being.

Let me know if you would like to go to Bowman or someplace else.... I bet you know of a lot of places we could go...

Did you get the fenders on your Jeep yet?

Bowman is only at about 6,000 ft so you shouldn't have any snow issues. Trail is really just a forest service road so dont expect to need 4wd.

No clue how packed it will be on a holiday weekend but there are tons of little lakes up in that area so take a map and explore.

Oops... I did not see anything on the Forum regarding a Hell Hole Run?  Is this a members only event?  Where can I get the details of the event?  How would you rate the difficulty?  Is this something you think I am ready for based on the Strawberry Run?

Thanks!

You wouldn't have any problems with it but you need to be a member    Have you made prospect yet?   I think a run puts you there right?

I have attended 2 meetings and 2 runs so far.  I am not sure what it takes to make prospect?

That sounds like fun, wish I could go, but we have plans (and that very minor "tranny won't hold fluid" issue).

We've never been but always wanted to go. Take lots of pictures and notes and lets plan another run as a group.  Have fun and be safe.

We just made prospect so we have decided to go on the Hell Hole Run with the Club.  I still would like to do a Bowman Lake Run at a later date.  It is supposed to be wonderful!

Buck,

Thanks for the link!  Bowman Lake seems like a great place.  I bet that your kids and wife would like it.  Let's get your Transmission Leak fixed and go up there!  Any idea as of yet what is causing the leak?

dropped it at my long-time mechanic today with a request to patch it up, if at all possible. . . it runs and shifts fine, just leaks like hell. We shall see. i did talk to 2 transmission shops. . . who (not surprisingly) said "need a new transmission" without even seeing it. . . we shall see.

Let me know if you need any help.  Hopefully it is not that big of a deal.
