Let me know what you are interested in doing. I have the time off work to get up there and enjoy it unlike last year. the Cantina is held at the spillway at Loon Lake staging area. There will be vendors and a big raffle, as well as tacos and ice cream for sale, all as a fundraiser for the rubicon trail foundation. I plan on camping at spider for at least one night.

Spider? I thought the plan was to go in to Ellis creek Friday, spillway Saturday for lunch then to buck for Saturday night.

I have to be home Sunday evening. Haven't decided if I'll be up Friday night or early Saturday morning.

Um...what?

I'm heading up Saturday morning. I can come wake you up at ellis creek, then back to the spillway for lunch. Or I can hang out and eat all the tacos before you get there. Haha..... Looks like fun

This is a fundraiser for friends of the rubicon. There will be tacos and beverages for sale, in addition to multiple vendors set up In the spillway. Sounds like fun. Rick you need to be there.

Same goes for you, Ray.

If I recall where this is all taking place, 4WD is not necessary so the XJ could make it just on the rear D44.

You can drive up there in a Subaru... It's a gravel road down to the spillway, but with the crowd and trailer rig parking on Labor day weekend, you'll likely be parking up top and just walking down to all the fun anyway.

I would be interested in a trip from Ellis creek to loon. BTW how does this route compare with loon to little sluice, is it harder easier?

If you've gone from loon to little sluice then you've passed right through Ellis creek. You can't really go Ellis to loon. I think your probably thinking wentworth springs to loon.

Um...what?

Wentworth starts out as a dirt road and slowly gets more difficult. Nothing super hard as there are bypass around the hard obstacle known as post pile. It's a longer route then going in loon but it's a fun loop for a day trip.

Um...what?

It's a great break from Loon to Ellis. It has a few difficult spots and you can't go around them. You can also make them tougher. 🙄 Mark [Image Can Not Be Found] [Image Can Not Be Found] [Image Can Not Be Found]

Thanks for the info guys. It sounds like I'm gonna have to get out there and check it out. Id like to find a mild run I can take my kids on as we will be in the area for cantina for the con. Also want to try out my locker and sliders. OBtw those are some nice pics.

Ok. Work is "honoring" Labor Day holiday, imagine that. Government can be so picky some times eh? 😯

I also have that Friday off making things very flexible.

Will an open seat please stand up?

Thanks!

@Famwgn - What day of Cantina will you be up there? It sounds like you are thinking of just a day visit? From the Loon side and noticing you have protection to test out, you can certainly get into the Granite bowl. Possibly even turn around at the Wentworth springs fork.

There is a chance that I will be sent to the fires and could miss the cantina. It's a small chance and I'm still hoping to go. We will see.

A day run would be easiest as I will have my kids, but we are open. Looking for experienced group that is willing to have a relative newbie along.

We can definitely help you out on some runs but the cantina for the con is going to be packed and not a wise time for a newbie run. There are a few hot heads and show offs.
