Sunday October 14th will be our second maintenance run of the year on Strawberry Pass Trail and the first maintenance run since the trail has re-opened. This is the trail the club sponsors. This is the Spring run was held on a Saturday in an attempt to accommodate peoples schedules. To maintain member status you must make 1 of the 2 maintenance runs. If anyone is unable to make this event and wasn't on the spring run or fall run last year please talk to me at the meeting or send me a PM. That said, this is about trail clearing and maintenance for the forest service. Our key goal for this run is bucking the trees the equipment knocked down repairing the trail and moving the rocks back into place.
Trip info:
Meeting place - Shell at Pollock Pines exit off Highway 50 at 8:30am. We will meet and after a quick drivers meeting, split into groups, and will head up to the trailhead about 9:00AM.
Things to bring:
-Gloves
-Loppers/hand saw
-Chainsaw (please only USFS certified operators, no exceptions) and safety gear (chaps, eye protection, ear protection)
-Tree Savers (to wrap around rocks)
-Crowbars/breaker bars to move rocks
-Water
-Lunch
-Door magnets
-Good attitude (this is pubic land closed by a lawsuit, our effort here is what reopened the trail and will keep other trails open)
Please post if you will be attending. A rig is not necessary to attend as there are plenty of open seats. Just post up if you will need a ride and I will make sure you have a seat before we leave the parking lot. If this is your first trail run with the club then please review the vehicle requirements. Expect more details at the drivers meeting.

I'll be there with loppers, pruners and a tree saver.
This will be my 3rd run, so is there any chance we can do a pot luck type lunch? I will bring the meat.
Scott, this is a great opportunity to do your member BBQ. Jeff Sharkey and I did our member BBQ together on a fall maintenance run on Strawberry. We did some trail maintenance and then went ahead of the group and set up our BBQ. The rest of the group came into the staging area just as we were ready to serve food. Worked out very well.

For those interested, I will be bbq'ing some Lockeford sausage on this trip. I will have at least 1 table with me, so if anyone else can bring one that would be great.
Hopefully others will join in for a great potluck luncheon.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

For the pot luck, I plan on bringing out fixin's for sandwiches since I won't have time to get to my butcher to get sausage. I'll bring a bunch of different meats, some condiments, and different types of bread.
If I get a chance to get sausage, I will being those as well. But sandwich fixin's for sure.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Are you guys going to be on a ham repeater?? My Slick Rock run on Saturday will be done on Saturday. I might come up Deer Valley at night, camp at blue lakes, and meet you guys to do some werk Sunday rather than head all the way to Meadow Lakes. I havent done Strawberry yet, so I don't know where I am going. Is anyone coming through the South end that I can meet? Or if we have peeps on a ham repeater, I can contact you through there. I think N6ICW hits the north end, and the Tahoe Link should be able to hit the south end?
