Anyone up for a snow run on the 14th? Yeah, I know it's Valentines Day so bring a date. 😀 I'm not a 100% for sure yet, but I figured I'd ask. I'd like to either try heading up Chalk Bluff Road (Grass Valley area) to Highway 20 or see how far we can get out of Washington toward Bowman Lake. Either will have a fair amount of snow. 8) Neither of these is an Iron Mountain type run so think 33 inch minimum tires and be prepared!

Both of those roads are dirt but I'm figuring on a fair amount of snow. In the summer they're both in good shape. If I remember correctly, both get over 6,000 feet. Grass Valley at 2,400ish got more snow last night. 8)
By "be prepared" I mean be ready in case something doesn't go as planned. Everything from shovels, tow straps, and winches, to warm clothes, blankets, and food. It's winter in the Sierras.

I would love to check out some of the trails around GV/NC, but I promised the kids I would take them up to the snow to play this weekend, so we will probably just go up to Iron Mtn and keep it just a pretty mellow outing. I am planning on the run on the 21st and leaving the kids at home on that one as I assume it will be more wheeling than snow play.
Hopefully next time.
