I've ran it, it's hard and it's fun. It's definitely a premier attraction on the trail. The problem is that it draws a huge crowd and it's more of a hang-out than just a section of the trail that people roll through and keep going. Besides, I think there is a big push (by both sides) to create a more moderate trail so many more people can enjoy it. I think it's part of the master plan to confine us to ONE TRAIL!

    I used to wheel a lot. . .

Tomorrow, Friday, appears to be D-day for LS. D for dumping rock. Someone confirms there is signage in place stating the route is closed that takes you to the box. Bypass to the left (as you go up) is open.

So they are filling it in rather than blowing it up? I've heard that the work being done was justified for erosion purposes yet it doesn't seem to be the case here?

The Little Sluice has been filled in with rock. From what I read on Pirate they did it to cover up all the fluid that have been spilled there over the years. Pretty lame if you ask me. I only got to run it once and now u can drive a hummer through it. :censor: that!

it seems as though all of the good wheeling spots in this state are being taken away. Barrett, JV and now this....where does it stop?

It doesn't until this state elects officials who are pro-land use.

If you think about it, this is probably a better solution than blowing everything up! At least people could change, allowing the trail to get more difficult again.

All that smaller rock is going to wash to the bottom of the hill anyways. LS will be back to normal within a year or two, maybe faster with the inevitable human "manipulation" 😏

Nothing appears to be blown up so the section can gradually increase in difficulty over time, and hope those opposed to it move on to other fights. If everyone runs out and removes the rocks, then they'll just come out, blow it up and be done with it.

or just close the trail completely

I also don't see how the rock fill is a mitigation to all the spills. Where does all the runoff from the LS go to anyways?

I saw some posts that seem to infer that blasting is still not completely ruled out.

True remediation would be excavating all the contaminated soils and backfill right? That's what other related oil spill methods are for inground as far as I know. (I'm no soils engineer though...)

Will this mean the bypass(s) will be closed?

Yes, I assume the bypasses will all be closed.

There is almost no soil I see that can be removed from that area...
