Date - Sunday March 10th - We're offering a second off-road basics class, similar to what was held at PC two years ago. Below is the write up posted back in 2011 to give everyone a general idea of the effort. Last time, several club members volunteered time and their rigs to help out, which turned out to be a fun day.
Notice --
A novice teacher, but experienced off roader is offering a free off road learning opportunity. It's ME putting it on! It's FREE! If you would like to go out to prarrie city and drive around in the 4x4 area, you are welcome to attend too.
This clinic will cover (will vary based on attendee experience):
Intro to 4wheel drive basics
Situational exercises
Technical discussions on some 4x4 terms and the reason they're important (break over angle, crawl ratio, cosmetic options v. functional options, etc.)
Vehicle inspection with discussion on basic safety requirements including what a "well maintained" vehicle means.
Anything else people want to discuss.
Some basic rules -
We'll go to lunch afterwards, so be prepared to eat somewhere cheap, hang out, and talk about what we just spent the past 4 hours doing.
Bring some drinks if you feel you'll get thirsty.
I'll have a rough agenda, but please bring issues/ideas/concerns you'd like addressed to.
Bring a recovery strap for each rig. I'll get "stuck" and we can learn how to recover a rig.
I think they open at 8am. If so, we can meet at 0900 in the staging area at the 4wd entrance.
Please reply here if you'd like to go for fun, attend the clinic, participate in the clinic, or hang out!
Thanks,
Brad
PM me if interested. This will be a half day or so, and not difficult or body damage worthy. Stock rigs are welcome.

I think this would be great!!
Two years ago I participated and would again just for the fun and get refreshed basics. CCMGs used to do this annually as well. Not too sure what happened to that but one thing they did that we might want to think about was a "winching clinic". Many folks have little to no experience winching ... I'd be a "no experience" and like anything else, it might be nice to learn before needing it on the trail. :censor:

What about having lunch their onsite? Bbq sponsored by GHP or similar?
I'm ok with doing something on site but am not sure if this should be a club sanctioned type of event. This could be beginners with no current posse affiliation and I didn't want to get into waivers and the like. Last time this was just some friends volunteering time to help newer people out.
Hopefully we do the same this time and get a broad swath of attendees. I think we had more than 10 last time.

I have the email address of the gent who was their club prez a couple of years ago. let me see if we can "casually" observe.
There was a couple of hours indoors in the conference room, outdoor demos in the office parking lot then off to the course followed by a BBQ.

He can't stop us from watching from a distance! I didn't think there were indoor conference rooms at PC? Man I feel bad! I made all you stand by the restrooms when we talked!

Oh, I was thinking we could actually be up close and just not take up a spot for a paying person.
As far as the conference room, you'd probably need to call to make arrangements. I doubt there was a fee but just to keep it available for a date/time.
Next time out there, one of us can ask at the gate.

I think I'd still do it outside because it's nice to grab on to a jeep (or parts) to show everyone on a real vehicle. Unless it is raining...

Well, you got thrown into the middle of the pool then swam to the edge so you picked up something ... even if accidentally.
