The Eldorado Forest is closed through September 30th. Can we schedule a Strawberry exploration run on Friday October 1st or Saturday the 2nd or will the trail be closed? It would be nice to get in there before the deer hunters and general public. Chances are we will need chainsaws to clear down trees and branches in places. Maybe we can schedule a tentative Saturday October 2nd fall maintenance run provided the trail opens or that we, as the club who maintains the trail, are permitted to access the trail.

Ok boys & girls, Kyle replied to my email & said no one is allowed in the fire areas until Cal Fire clears the areas to do so, regardless of the forest service orders. Even he cannot enter. He has talked with Tim as well & will let us know when it opens. Hwy 50 remains closed at Kyburz, so that has to open as well.
I’ll post any news from Kyle when updated.

Lynda & I drove to our Austin home yesterday & decided to turn on tract 42 just to see what fire damage there was. Brad’s old cabin was barely saved & 3 others down the road didn’t make it. We then went up the road towards our trail & looks like all the cabins were saved. We didn’t go beyond there. No signs or posting (road closures) noticed. Turning back on 50, most all of the cabins between Sierra Ski Ranch & the summit were burned to the ground...sad.

Also noticed a lot of activity all along 50 with tree cutting companies. You see a ton of trucks at every turn-out. Looks like they’ll be the for a long time.

It looks like we will be driving up on Saturday. We are not looking to run Strawberry, just checking things out, and exploring where we can.
We do not have high expectations, so this is more a drive around event (in off road vehicles).
We will plan to be going through Placerville at around 930, if anyone wants to go.
Just post up here.

. Heard on the news on the way to work this morning that MET remains closed. Where in Placerville should we meet?

Hey guys, here is the closure order. Literally everything in the burn area is closed. Packsaddle, silverfork, MET, everything. Technically you cant even turn off at 42 mile and cross the bridge without a permit. Have fun but please follow the rules.
County roads like Ice house and wentworth are open, as is everything USFS lower down the hill around union valley res.
