Strawberry “Spring” Maintenance Run

    Saturday July 12th, 2025 will be our first trail maintenance run of the year on Strawberry Pass Trail. This is the trail the club sponsors. To maintain member status you must make at least 1 trail maintenance run a year (as I dropped the ball on posting this, there will be at least two additional chances to meet the requirement in the next 2 months with dates TBD). Our key goals for this run are bucking trees down in the area, erosion control, and getting documentation of fire remediation actions needed.. We will use the club's HAM PosseV2 frequency for communications, so bring your HAM radios.

    Also, as a reminder, maintenance runs are a great opportunity for anyone needing to host a bbq/pot-luck for membership to do so. If you plan to do so, please post so folks know and can contribute.

    Meet at the Subway/Shell station in Pollock Pines off of Hwy 50 and Sly Park exit at 8:30am. We will meet and after a quick drivers meeting will head up to the trailhead about 9:00am.

    Things to bring:

    -Trash bags

    -Gloves

    -Loppers/hand saw

    -Chainsaw (please only USFS certified operators, no exceptions) and safety gear (chaps, eye protection, ear protection)

    -Crowbars/breaker bars

    -Shovel

    -Water

    -Lunch

    Can't make a Saturday but I'll be there on the next Sunday maintenance run.

    Side note, didn't we used to meet at the Fresh Pond shell? What happened?

    Dont believe I will make this one, as already have a few things going on in July/August and on thin ice with the wife for attending Trek on our anniversary weekend. I will have to attend a fall run.

    When we get larger groups I will split us into 2 so one group can clear the upper end of the trail while the other focuses on the lower, if we start at fresh pond then the upper group has to back track. But mostly the fresh pond chevron changed hands and the sandwiches went to crap. If they are better again I will consider moving the location.

    Hi we are planning to host our BBQ for the membership during the Strawberry "Spring" Maintenance Run this weekend. If you could please let us know if you will be attending so we can get a head count that would be great.

    Hey Kris, thanks for leading a fun maintenance run today and for bringing out the water and donuts.  The trail is definitely becoming more moderate.  Hope everyone made it home safe and sound.

    Great run, we got a good amount of trail maintenance. Everyone worked hard, good job to all.  And the bbq was very good. Even had an ice cream sandwich for dessert.

    Does anyone have my heavy duty breaker bar? I took it on a maintenance run a year or more go and I didn't get it back. I had it in someone else's vehicle because it was too much work to get it in and out of my TJ. I never got it back after the run or more . It's black, very heavy duty, about five feet or more in length, is a little bent and has a mushroom shaped handle on it.
