Suzuki build

I do appreciate your input Kris and I didn't take it as being a "blank" (sorry I try not to curse) just the fact that I like these wheels and got them for basically free I went with them I can have them recentered to a 3" back spacing instead of the 7" they are now for cheap and the inserts aren't those big run flats ones your referring to they are PVC and darn light my guess would be wheel and insert would be less then 40lbs not bad.

16.5 tires in 37" aren't cheap but they are also not that much more then the same price as a 15" or 17" in the same brand/company.

My initial plan for this build was my Toyota axles because I got them for free and made money off the truck I took them off of and just run 35" tires but I like the fact I can run these H1 wheels on a bigger tire and never ever have to worry about lossing a bead. I was just look for opinions from others about the 1 tons being worth it or not.

I am leaning towards just continuing on with my Toyota axles build and not robbing my F-350 for the kingpin Dana 60.

Again thank you Kris for your input and your wisdom is always appreciated

kris_olof said There are very few manufacturers still selling new 16.5s.  Pitbull and Swamper are all if know of ...

    Pitbulls and Swampers.

That would be enough to turn me off that project right there 😀

Ok I didn't know if you knew some insider secret about their compounds or something that might keep me from wanting them.

Their compounds are super soft so they grip well in the rocks but they wont last long on pavement.  That said, swamper at least has some 16.5 offerings in load range C for your featherweight rig.

On pavement isn't a problem even though my rig is street legal I would trailer it to the trails.

Not to mention I've had my jeep for 7 years and haven't even put 20k on it yet...

It really depends on which style of Swamper you go with...

Some have good crawling compound but wear out fast on the road.

Truxus and Iroks seem to be the best of the bunch for crawling.

Other models just plain suck on dry rocks, wet rocks, and driving on the road.

However, there are many brands of tires I would rate way ahead of any Swamper.

So it's been some time but I have slowly gathering parts and doing small things as I go.

Wheels are done just need to blast them and paint them and my TSL/SX have been ordered.

I have started clearing my small shop (the only level concrete spot at my house) to put the Suzuki in and start my axle swap and doing everything this else that it needs to be trail ready for next year now that we don't have our jeep anymore20180802_155721.jpg20181112_160602.jpg

Got the wheels back from blasting today and had to throw a quick coat of black primer/paint just to seal the bare steal. I think they look good so far I think I'll stick with black and add some kind of lime/florescent/safety green on it that I plan on doing for my rig...20181115_154641.jpg20181115_171034.jpg

    And it's on it's way!

Axles, lift and bumpers are being installed as we speak.

Then I'll bring it home and finish up the drivelines, breaks, winch and the 36" tires and I should be ready for this wheeling season!

    Nice work.

I'd imagine that running 40s would require some major trimming.

Well rear axle is under it, breaks are all plumbed and the steering is all together. Just need to bring her home and do tires, drivelines and measure for shocks

He also said with the 36s that I'll be able to drive up a wall cause they will be out in front of the rig. So I decided to not go with that jk bumper I had planned for and build a low profile one instead. But I am stoked!!!

Just went and checked out the progress in person today and so far it looks great!!!

I also dropped off an Elocker 3rd and since I'm running 85 Toyota axles the housing is going to be modified for the new 3rd, also another Elocker 3rd is being regeared to match and I will be locked front and rear when I get it back.

I also talked to him about tying the sport cage into the frame so it will be a real full cage for my safety....

I am getting so excited I feel like a kid before Christmas....
