Decided to move forward and start on this project this evening.

Driveshafts are off.
Skid plates are off.
T-Case shift linkage is off.

Next: Drain fluids and remove T-Case.

Very nice! beer I like the options the 3 speed t-case gives you.

I'm curious, does anyone know if the Stak t-case is compatible with flat-towing the Jeep (without disconnecting the driveshafts)?

Watch out! One more set of gears and you'll be as cool as a Toyota driver. 😀

I couldn't find any specific info but here's the shift pattern. There are 3 neutral positions.

Old NP231J is out. Had to remove the cat to get to some of the bolts. I'm getting good at that now.

Only problem I have now is getting the new 153lb t-case up. I need to test fit to see if I have the correct clocking and then final mount. I made one attempt using the floor jack but couldn't get it at the right angle.

If there's anyone that would like to lend a hand that would be great. I can PM directions.

Here's a pic of the transmission without t-case...

Yeah, I guess a time would help. 😀

Any time between Friday afternoon and Sunday evening works for me.

Would I be able to rent that at a Lowe's or Home Depot or would I need to go somewhere else?

I rented mine form a place down at Sierra College and Douglas Blvd..I think it was called "Nations rent." You will just need to call around to rental shops..Most carry automotive tools.

Just wondering if you need a 1 inch body lift to make the Stak fit like you do on a TJ..Even with a body lift, I still had to make a nice size dent in my floor to make my Atlas fit..Maybe in a YJ you don't..In a TJ, there just isn't enough room between the floor and the center skid to fit the bigger box..

Yeah, I think it will be close. The Stak has a lot of clocking options so I might have to play around to get the right selection.

Kevin,
I think Rob brings up a good point. If you don't know whether the case is a direct bolt in, you should get the jack. If you have to do a lot of hammering, or cutting, pulling the case up and down won't be fun. I had assumed you knew it was a drop in, so we'd only be there an hour or so. I think Rob spent several hours getting his in correctly.

Let me know.

Yeah, good point. I'll try the jack option. I'll see if I can find one today. Thanks.
