Any interest in a Fordyce + Rubicon Day run, version 2.0?

I'd like to put my JKU through it's paces and see how it stacks up to my TJ! I realize I don't have coilovers yet, but am willing to run it again once I am running them..

In the Summer, as a weekday run, I'd do it. No Fridays or weekends.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

I'll ride shot gun. My rig is not ready for an epic trip like this.

Um...what?

There should definitely be a minimum requirement for this run, I'd think. We try to run Fordyce in about 4 hours and Rubicon in about 5 hours. That's a pretty good pace.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

My Jeep won't be ready this year but I'd be interested in riding along.

I will have a seat for someone who is committed to taking pictures!!! I'd also like an official "photographer" who can jump between rigs throughout the trip.

Yes, there will be minimum requirements for this trip. I can say it will be on a Wednesday. I can post the specific date, doing some math. I think it would be July 11th.

I'd like to see about riding shotgun on this trip. That being the case, I could also be the trip "historian".

I'm in again, but I agree with John. Weekday is the only way to do this run and beat our last time!!

Clearly we were thrwarted last time with the Friday "in" crowd on the Rubicon, and the broken full-size we waited 2 hrs for.

Going on a Thursday should be better...

What does everyone think of July 11th? I'd say this run will require at least 35" tires and two lockers, plus recovery gear. Also, each driver will need to trust the rig in front of them for most spotting situations. Rob does an excellent job spotting through the tough spots like WH1 so I'm glad he's going!

I have July 12th on my calendar. We will be back in time for the club meeting that evening, right ❓

Good point on the meeting. How about July 11th. It's a Wednesday.

I'll put a hold for the run on the calendar.

JULY 11th?

Since 4th of July is mid-week, the Rubicon will be a zoo.

The following week should be a ghost town as everyone burned their vacation the previous week. We will be running the rubicon backwards so we'll need light traffic headed against us.

JULY 11th?

That'll be fine for me. I'll be any help I can on the run.

So running Fordyce W to E will put us at the E terminus of the Rubicon so we run the Rubicon E to W, correct? I need to get my maps out. embarassed

Fordyce is run the uphill direction putting us out north of Truckee.

We drive through Truckee (get gas and lunch) and hit the exit of the Rubicon.

We run down Cadillac and out through Loon.

We go back Wentworth, down to 49, and head home accordingly.

Mondays would have out traffic but a Thursday would be ok. However, it may have to be in August for me because of scheduling unless we miss a meeting...

I'm good for any day you want to do it. I can take off time when ever I want. I think Weds the 11th is the best date. It will be the least traffic on the trail. Most people are off the trails by monday or Tuesday. Some of the weekend traffic will start heading in on Thursdays for a long weekend. Weds is the calm before the storm.

Seems to make sense to me as well. I guess we could go the other direction in August if Scott can't go until then? mr-green

Let's hope you can make it. It is one of the more challenging runs. And my favorite.
