Pollock Pines Subway/Shell Station
6529 Pony Express Trail
Pollock Pines
CA 95726
Meet at 8:30am for drivers' meeting and sign-in; we will leave at 9:00am. Will plan on having lunch around noon or so and start packing up around 2:00pm - 3:00pm depending when the afternoon wheelers get back. Dress for a day in the snow and cold.
Please post below if you are attending.
Other notes:
This run is currently open if we have any pending members needing a BBQ so post up if you want to take this on. We will use the club's HAM PosseV2 frequency for communications, so bring your HAM radios. Additionally I will now carry a second radio for those with only GMRS/FRS radios.
General things to remember to bring:
-Tables
-Chairs
-Fire wood
-Warm Beverages
-Water (cold weather is very dehydrating)
-Easy-up

OfflineWanting to confirm rig requirements for this run. My wife may decide to join and if she does, she will likely want to drive her stock 2019 Grand Cherrokee 4x4. We keep all terrain tires on it, but the ground clearance is limited. She will likely just hang out at the information table near the forest service gate. Will that kind of setup work at all? I can bring my recovery gear to be used as extras, but her vehicle doesnt have any recovery hooks or anything on it and no tow package or anything.

At a minimum, you should have front and rea recovery points. It's unusual that Jeep lacks those, on any model.
I have taken my stock Raptor Truck and my Tacoma on road patrols. Hanging at base camp allows the less equipped vehicles to go. But you do need recovery. Lack of that really puts the burden on others to help you, and that's unfair. You are in the snow so getting stuck is a real possibility.

That was kind of what I was expecting. I will share this with her and try to convince her to take my Wrangler (has tow package front and rear with a shackle I can put in either). I will also bring my kinetic rope, tow straps and other gear. Thank you for getting back to me.

Found it! But it can listen on the frequency, but not transmit for some reason. On the bright side it works on GRMS freqs. Maybe someone that's good with baofeng radios can figure it out.
Are you going on this run I can just grab it then or I'll come grab it from you before? Kris said he'll have his GRMS radio so it still will work for me... Thanks again!
