Does anyone know if the trail is still open? I was planning on heading to Tahoe on the 22nd of this month for some skiing but since Tahoe has no snow I might just bring the jeep up instead. If it is open, would any of you fellow Posse members or associates like to come along?

Rubicon never closes. It's a county road rather than a forest service road and is not subject to seasonal closure. There is a "voluntary" closure of the Loon Lake route to accommodate the cross country skiers. But you can still go in through Ellis.

Thinking of heading in thursday (12/22) morning and either running the whole thing or camping at the springs and heading out friday...but im open to suggestions
I can do Thursday. I know it would be a long day but it can be done in a day. Worse case camp and come home Friday!

It should be 4-6 hours airing down to airing up...
6hrs is a reasonable, even with stopping for lunch (unless traffic holds you up).
An open XJ on 31's is not Rubicon Ready and will greatly slow the group down, or introduce yourself to considerable body damage/breakage...
I'm hoping to be Rubicon ready this summer. Will take another poll when the snow melts and my winter upgrades/maintenance is done.

Either one works for me too... I almost prefer Friday because i have to drive up on wed night...get everything loaded onto the trailer and leave super early in the morning to get there...
I used to wheel an open XJ 31" and you will not make it through without a ton of damage and lots of winching... For an XJ I would say locked rear if not front as well and min 33" but probably 35" would be better....

X2... So far the plan is to meet at Fresh Pond Chevron at 8am. Head up through Wentworth springs and out Millers Jeep Trail. Weather shows clear and cold conditions and from the looks of pirate pictures there should be little to no snow left on the ground... should make for a great run... š
There was almost no snow above 7000 ft. so I'd expect this trip to be snow free. Ice may be your only challenge.
I found out yesterday I have a new boss. I don't think it would be good to "sick day" my first week reporting to her.
